Feeling blue? Sad?  Grey?
Is the weather affecting your energy level?

Hanging out with family members this week in sunny Colorado, we were sharing the effects and benefits sunlight has on us. Usually Colorado, USA is sunny in the winter except when it is snowing.

However, with all the current unusual weather patterns, Glenwood Springs, CO had been cloudy for 6 days and nights.  Boo hoo.  As a result of the clouds, I did not get to directly experience one of my favorite activities: cross-country skiing in the moonlight.

Another consequence of the sixth cloudy day in Glenwood was no one in my Colorado family was energetic, except the 2 and 5 year olds, who were running around the living room as usual.  Everyone else was sitting close to the windows, drinking tea and reading their computers.

What about you? Have you been feeling blue, sad or depressed this winter?  Is your energy level low? Have you been staying indoors too long? Are you light deprived?

Notice your mood, emotions and energy levels. When you feel sad, take note of the light in your life.  Light comes from the sun but the sun is not the only source for the healthy vibrations you need to feel better, stronger and more alive.  Light is energy and everything has energy.

If you pay attention, you can notice what has more energy and light and what has less energy and light.  For example, look at the books on your bookshelf.  Some books have more light than others. Toss out or give away the heavy, dark, dense books. If you do, you are sure to feel lighter. For even more light, reread a wonderful book full of light.

If you are a Highly Sensitive Person, you are probably more affected by low light than the average person.  As a HSP you also have a higher probability of feeling the light energy that does or does not exist in the world around you.  Why not put your sensitive nature to work to help you become more aware of the amount of light and energy in the world around you?

Even if you are not a Highly Sensitive Person, you can increase your ability to sense light and energy.  Keep practicing by taking a look at your thoughts and see which ones have less light. Those negative, heavy, dark thoughts need to be tossed!  See which thoughts bring more light into your world and pay attention to these higher vibrations more often.

Do not stay stuck in feeling grey and depressed.  After you become aware of what has more light and energy, take appropriate action. Do that which brings more light and energy into your world.

Who do you love?
What do you love?

Valentine’s Day is a wonderful reminder to check in on your ability to love. Besides who and what, ask yourself, “How do I love?” Do you know if your love energy is freely flowing in and out of your body connecting you with others? Or do you confuse love with pleasing people or having people please you?

Many parents and partners confuse love with other energies besides love. Love has been associated with various aspects of control for centuries. Like God, unloving things have been done in the name of love. Pure, healthy love is rare and precious.

I remember my father saying to my mother in various non-verbal ways, “If you loved me, you would do so and so.” He was usually successful in getting my mother to go with him and do what he wanted her to do. My mother did not take the time to check in with herself to even see if she wanted to go with him.  As a result of my father’s guilt tripping, control and pressure, my mother resented my father. She did not know the reason for her resentment. The reason was my father controlled her in the name of love.

This control issue is a universal pattern I have noticed over the last 37 years in all my couples therapy sessions. One or both people in a loving relationship control the other in the name of love. Control is not love. Wanting someone to please you instead of himself or herself is not love. Making others feel guilt is not love.

Love is a pure, clean and free energy. Love cannot and does not control, manipulate, pull or push you. Love is freely given and freely received. Unfortunately, due to past conditioning, many people are afraid to love because they are afraid they will be controlled if they let go, open up and love.

Do you push away love because you are afraid you will be controlled?

Take a look and be honest with yourself. If you cannot freely love someone, something is stopping you. If you cannot freely give your heart and body to someone, something is stopping you. Take a look at the part of you that is afraid to love. Get to know this anxious part of you and give her or him what is needed to overcome your fear of intimacy.

Sharing love energy is the reason for being in my world. Without love, what do you have? Without love, why are you here? Love is the power energy on the planet and I want more and more of it. My desire for you is to love more and be loved more.

Love energy makes you healthy in mind and body. You cannot be mentally ill if you allow the energy of real love to move throughout your body. Love is a spontaneous energy that occurs in your heart and moves outward toward the beloved.

Several well-executed research studies have shown that people who enjoy sexual activities are physically healthier than people who do not. Study after study has also shown that people who enjoy physical activities are mentally healthier than people who do not.

So? What about you?

Do you enjoy sexual and physical activities? If not, begin to put more of these two healthy body movements into your daily routine.

If you are alone, single or your partner is not interested, know that you can enjoy sensual, healthy, delicious body movements on your own. You do not need anyone else to be physical, sensual and healthy in mind and body!

This is because good sexual health is based on your relationship with your own body and sexual self. Sexual health is not based on the biological definition of sex, which refers only to sexual intercourse.

Do you spend time nourishing and loving your body and sexual self? If you do not love your own body and sexual self, how could you expect others to love you? They can’t. Your lack of good sexual health keeps others at bay. Therefore, nothing fun, exciting and romantic for Valentine’s Day is going to happen between you and your beloved.

If you are afraid or uncomfortable with the sensuous parts of yourself, you are inhibited. Your inhibition keeps healthy energy and other people away. You do not move your body freely. You do not express your sensuous nature with joy. This inhibition is what blocks the healthy energy from entering your cells and body.

The Results of Poor Sexual Health are:
1. Weaker cells which are more vulnerable to all sorts of diseases.
2. Weaker connection to others, which results in depression and isolation.
3. Premature ejaculation, sex addiction and erectile dysfunction for men.
4. Lack of desire and inability to have a full body orgasm for women and men.

To improve your sexual health, you need to become more comfortable with your body and how sensuous it is in everyday life. To be successful meeting your body’s needs, you must let go of control. All sexual health problems are due to your inability to let go of control. You cannot enjoy your sexual self if you are in control.

You cannot “will” an orgasm. You cannot make yourself have a whole body orgasm, even though women have tried to fake it for centuries. You cannot “will” the benefits of loving your sexual self. You cannot make your body healthier until you let go of control. Control is unhealthy. Inhibiting yourself makes you weak, rigid and unhappy.

To become more alive, you must move all of your body and that means your pelvis, genitals and breasts freely. Not mechanically. Not with yoga. To be healthy in mind and body you must love all of you without judgment. That means your skin, breasts, nervous system and physical needs.

Raymond Francis, in Never Be Sick Again, says there is one disease, two causes and six pathways. He is so correct about his simple approach to health and wellness. The one disease is your cells gets weak. The two causes are you are either hurting the cell with something to make it weak or you are not giving the cell what it needs to be healthy. The six pathways are how this disease process unfolds.

With this clear and direct approach to health and wellness you can get to the root of what is making your cells weak and keeping them from being vibrant and strong. One of the six pathways he labels emotional. Unfortunately, he does not address emotional health in his book except to mention stress can make your cells weak. Instead, he focuses on eliminating external toxins and eating good food; both of course, are essential for holistic health.

However, by the end of the book, his diet and lifestyle become so rigid and controlling there is not much pleasure or joy left in life. There are so many foods and chemicals you have to avoid to be healthy that this avoidance, in and of itself, could make you weak and puny. Some people are attracted to avoidance models for holistic health. I am not, based on two very important facts.

As an expert in learning research, I know most mental health, emotional distress and relationship problems occur due to avoidance behaviors. The more you avoid anything, the weaker and more mentally disturbed you become. The other fact I learned from one of my energy teachers, Jack Swartz. Jack taught me that you never want to become so pure that you cannot function in the real world around you. Energetically you become weak if you make yourself too pure.

Think of water and germs. You do not want to be so weak that you can only drink the purest water in the world. You do not want to be so germ-free that you cannot be around people who could be sick. You want to be resistant to regular drinking water, germs and the psychological factors that make your cells weak. To be resistant means that your vibration is higher than that which could make you sick.

It is a physical fact that lower vibrations, such as germs, cannot penetrate a higher vibration, such as a healthy, strong, radiant cell. Therefore, physically, you need to build up antibodies so that you become resistant to the germs around you. Psychologically, you need to improve your emotional health so that you are resistant to the lower vibrations of denial, judgment and guilt.

Denial, judgment and guilt make your cells weak.  Look for these lower vibrations in your unconscious. Do not look outside yourself for these vibrations. As I mentioned, outside lower vibrations cannot penetrate you if you do not have these lower vibrations inside of you.  You must bring the lower vibrations that are in your unconscious up to your conscious mind and learn how to deal with them in a psychologically healthy fashion.

So my approach to natural health and wellness is to raise the vibrations in your cells by improving your emotional health. Use psychologists, coaches, teachers and mentors to help you become aware of what you do not know so you clean up your deep, dark unconscious which is making you physically and mentally sick.

Several readers of The Vibrant Moment mentioned to me within the last month that they are dealing with serious physical problems.  I recently got a common cold that lingered on for three weeks with a stubborn cough keeping me awake at night.

All of us are humbled from time to time with physical challenges.  Once the body is weak and sick, it takes much more energy to heal and become stronger than it does to stay healthy and strong in the first place.

However, never be judgmental toward your body when you are sick. It is not your body’s fault that you are sick. Remember this fact and do not forget this fact. It is not your body’s responsibility that you are sick, so do not attack your body and be mad at your body.

Instead, be kind and gentle with yourself when your body is weak, sick and not healthy. Give yourself whatever you need to become healthy, using the very best of Western, Eastern and Natural Holistic Healing approaches.

Obviously, it is essential to work at the physical level when you are physically sick. In addition, it is equally important to work at the emotional, mental and energetic levels when you are sick.  This is the reason I do not understand why physicians are booked up for weeks in advance and psychologists, body workers, energy workers and holistic health practitioners are not.

If you want to reach and maintain good holistic health, you need to rush to the people who teach you how to become more aware of the energy that is making you sick.  You need to become aware of the psychological reasons you are sick. Do not rush to physicians for treatments and medications that do not cure your physical problems.

Usually, you do not know what is making you sick.  Just as you may not know that eating tuna everyday could result in mercury poisoning that is slowing killing your body, you may not know the psychological reasons you are getting weak, sick and suffering pain.

The reason you do not know what is making you sick is that the psychological facts and truths are in your unconscious.  You are not aware of what you are doing to create disease and disharmony in your body and cells. You are not aware of what you need to be aware of in order to become healthier and stronger in the flesh. How could you be?

You cannot be aware of something you are not aware of. This is the reason you must work with others that teach you how to become more aware of what you are not aware of!  Rush to skilled, competent professionals who teach you to become more aware of what is lurking in your unconscious.

Like removing dirty clothes, it feels good to let go of 2013. Like putting on fresh, clean clothes, it feels fantastic to walk into the brand new year of 2014. It is exciting to know that this new year offers new possibilities and promises that you could embrace if you so choose.

It is always helpful to take stock of your personal growth and review the successes you achieved over the last year. If you want to permanently improve your self-confidence, it is essential to take the time to celebrate your successes and feel proud of yourself. You need to make the successes yours.

To help you own your successes, write down the personal growth and professional achievements you accomplished in 2013. No matter how small your success, write it down and know that baby steps are the way you learn to dance in the world. Next, you need to celebrate your successes in some way that feels good to you. Reward yourself with something that you love. It is also important to not forget about your successes. Do you push yourself and others?
Do you pressure yourself to do certain things, like right now?

Even pushing yourself to do the so-called “healthy thing” is a clever way for your ego to get you back in control again. As soon as your ego has you in any psychological state that is controlling your energy, you are sure to be anxious.

Therefore, as soon as you notice you are controlling yourself or others, start looking for your anxious self. She will be hanging around somewhere scared and nervous. Anxiety is what makes you want and need to control yourself in the first place.

Never forget this connection between your anxiety and your controlling ego. The more anxious you are, the more controlling you are. Controlling people are always anxious and scared. This means there is a little boy or girl inside your adult body that is scared and anxious when you start pushing.

If you were not anxious, you would be relaxed and doing what you need to do. You would not be controlling yourself by pushing your energy. Anxiety is what makes you push and pressure yourself to move too fast. When you move too fast, you never experience relaxation, holistic health or peak performances.

Another factor you need to consider is, the more aware you are of your anxiety and fear, the better. Denying your anxiety or exaggerating it is not helpful. If you do not know you are anxious, your anxiety controls you and makes you sick and miserable. If you do know you are anxious and scared, you are in a position of power. You can do what you need to do to help your anxious self feel less anxious.

Learning how to reduce your anxiety is essential for healthy living. Anxiety really does make you sick in mind and body. Once your reduce your anxiety, then you can get down to the bottom-line fears that are paralyzing you. There is always a real fear underneath your anxiety that you need to address in order to move forward.

Paying attention to your real fears and moving through them makes sure you take care of what you really do need to take care of in life. It also makes sure you do the healthy things you need to do without pushing yourself to do them.

When you are in touch with your real fear, you can totally trust yourself and your pathway forward. You are on solid ground because your real fear keeps you honest, clean and clear.
