How to Open Your Heart and Follow Your Bliss

The Vibrant Moment – Remember: Be Present.
Tools from the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Dr. Doris Jeanette, Body-Emotions-Energy Teacher

Do you know the difference between your super responsible ego energy
that is dictated by the “shoulds” your brain insists you must do AND
the glow of warmth living in your heart that calls out to you to
follow and express?

Many people have the belief that when they grow up they must be
responsible by being polite, good and right. This kind of
responsibility is heavy on your shoulders and does not lead to
vibrant moments. Ego energy is flat, heavy, rigid and makes you
anxious and insecure.

Even though my clients learn that it is their ego that makes them
anxious, they are afraid of letting go of their Perfect Selves. They
are sure they will be out of control and do the wrong thing if they
relax and stop taking care of others. Are you afraid of letting go of
control? Do you think you need your super responsible ego energy to
make you do the right thing?

If you want to experience freedom, joy and vibrant moments, you need
to challenge this false belief everyday. Even though I know my
defensive ego, Dr. Tight-ass, is what makes me unhappy, anxious and
helpless, I sometimes get fooled by her loud, bully voice in my head.
Every morning when I wake up I explore what is in my consciousness.
Shifting out of any ego energy hanging around me into my real
feelings immediately improves the knot in my stomach.

In the real, physical world you can trust your heart. Your heart is
tender, loving and kind. Its energy is like the sun, it radiates
energy outward and makes you strong, secure and sturdy. Your heart is
amazingly wise because it is connected to your body, Mother Earth and
the Cosmos. When you follow your heart, it leads you to freedom, joy
and a responsibility that is far more effective than that of your

Your heart does not blame, like your brain. When you follow your ego
you blame yourself and others. When you follow your heart you are
responsible for what you are experiencing. Compassion pours out of
you toward people and things. You do not deliver harsh judgments to
yourself or others. You stand in the batter’s box and show up —no
matter what.

With an open heart, you live in reality, instead of your thoughts
about reality. What this means is that you are aware of your body,
earth and cosmos as real energies that you interact with. When you
are in your thoughts, beliefs and ego, your body awareness is absent.
Use your body awareness was a reliable test to know if your ego is
present or not!

With an open heart and body awareness you accept and adjust to what
exists. You do not have expectations of how things should be. You
dive into your unconscious and come up with yucky stuff to transform.
No matter what society judges you about, the amount of
self-confidence you gain from living with an open heart is profoundly

The bottomline is that the more you avoid letting go of your
controlling ego, the more you experience helplessness, anxiety and
victimhood. So, step up to the plate and get ready to hit the ball.
It does not matter if you hit a home run or strike out, either is
just fine. You did your best. Whatever you do is good enough when
your heart is in charge.

Love yourself as you are right now in this moment. Reap the rewards
of being physically strong, relaxed and self-confident by putting
your heart in charge. The next time you feel down in the dumps, let
go of your defensive ego energy and see what happens. Email me your
results. I love to get feedback about your explorations of becoming
more self-aware.

You are Not Broken and Do Not Need to be Fixed

The Vibrant Moment – Remember: Find Your True Self
Tools from the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Dr. Doris Jeanette, Body-Emotions-Energy Teacher

A man who has been suffering from a life experience, which left him
traumatized, requested an answer from me on Quora. So far, therapy
has not helped him. “Is there any reason to go to therapy if you
cannot be fixed.”

Unfortunately, he has the belief that he is broken and cannot be
fixed. Fortunately, I had an epiphany after a few years of helping
people who had been severely sexually and physically abused. Sitting
on the floor showing a client how to feel her emotions, body and
energy I suddenly realized that there was no bottomless pit inside of
her that could not be fixed. This awareness dramatically changed my
behavior; and thus, therapeutic results.

As I kept my attention on my new awareness that a person was not
permanently sentenced to a life of being damaged goods, I began to
relate to them differently without even knowing it. My intuitive self
began to relate more and more to their innate, real self instead of
to their wounded self.

I knew the difference between a conditioned response and a person’s
true nature because I had studied and used learning research for
years. Now, in addition to showing my clients how a conditioned
response is learned behavior, I showed them that their innate
strengths were different. Their true self was intact and ready to be
used as needed to help heal wounds.

Mother Nature made sure that nothing could destroy our real self,
which includes our intuitive self, instincts, heart, energy and inner
core. What a difference my shift in consciousness made in our
therapeutic success. There was a dramatic forward movement into
faster, stronger positive results. Thus said, here is the answer I
wrote for this man who asked if he could be fixed.

“So, the best news in the world is: You are not broken. You are not
permanently damaged. Let this reality soak into your cells and heart.
No matter what has happened to you, you can unlearn unhealthy
conditioning and heal real life trauma.

Your Inner Core, True Nature is waiting for you. Your Real Self is
undamaged and intact. Your job is to find, accept and follow your
True Self back into wholeness. This is the journey for everyone. All
of us are wounded.

Seek out teachers who show you the difference between your
Conditioned Self and your Real Self. When you learn how to recognize
your unloving ego, you have the power to make better choices in the
moments of your life. Learning to read body language and energy
rapidly increases your learning.”

Learn the difference in the energy between a conditioned response and
your Real Self. The first thirty minutes of the Opening the Heart audio
series teaches you how to feel this energy difference.

GET HELP FEELING REAL SELF: The first thirty minutes of the
three-hour Opening the Heart audio series teaches you the difference
between your real self and your fake, ego self. The next thirty
minutes helps you discover your true emotional self so you are not as
easily fooled by your ego. Learn to be more compassionate toward
yourself. Just the sounds of my voice are healing, relaxing and
comforting to your heart and soul. 100% guaranteed. $97.00.

How to Be Happy and Full of Joy

The Vibrant Moment – Remember: Bring Back Your Joy.
Tools from the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Doris Jeanette, Human Energy Teacher, Mentor

Last month I shared how to relax into stress by trusting yourself and your natural processes. Read about how to transform overwhelming energy if you missed it:

Thank the cosmos, I was able to follow my own advice. For the last two weeks, I have been able to enjoy my daily swim and relax in the shade afterwards, while looking up at the beautiful blue sky. What a joy!

I was stuck in a defensive response to stress. Nothing kills joy faster than defensive energy. This is the reason I am highly motivated to get rid of defensive energy as fast as possible. How often do you get stuck in a defensive reaction?

“No one understands me. No one cares about me,” my client said after the end of a story about how an unkind person related to him. He didn’t say it, but I could feel that he included me in with all the rest of the people in his life. He did not think that I understood or cared about him either.

After forty years of experience working with defensive energy, I know that when someone is defensive, they do not trust me. I also know that when someone does not trust me, there is nothing I can do to help them. Therefore, if I cannot find a way to help my client return to his senses so he can trust me again, he is on his own.

This means he will stay stuck in his false beliefs, reacting as if they are true, when in reality they are false. This is the emotional health dynamic when many people end an important relationship with their friend, family or psychologist. You can currently see millions of people all over the world acting as if their irrational thoughts about reality are true, when they are false.

This is an excellent definition of mental illness. When you, or someone you know and love, is stuck in a false belief that no one understands you, you are out of touch with reality. Of course, it is true that people are sometimes unkind, mean and attacking. Yes, the person in my clients’ story was unkind.

However, it is also true that my client is being unkind to his friend and himself. The bottom line is, when you stop being unkind to yourself is when unkindness stops hurting you. When I stopped criticizing myself, I stopped being defensive about all my problems. Once I was kind and loving toward myself, my pleasure in living returned.

The next time this emotional health dynamic occurs in your life, you could transform your defensive energy into flowing healthy, energy. Instead of making yourself or the other person wrong, you could return to your senses. If you feel, instead of think, you return to your body and reality. Common sense, reality and truth are the ingredients needed to cultivate joy and vibrant moments.

Bring back your joy by being kind to yourself—no matter what is going on in your life.

How to Overcome Anxiety to Get Your Moment Back

The Vibrant Moment – Remember: Do Nothing Often.
Tools from the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Doris Jeanette, Holistic Psychology Mentor, Coach

For over a decade this flyer took center stage on my refrigerator. It was given to me by one of my students at the Internal Women’s Writing Guild at Skidmore College where I taught body awareness classes outside on the Quad for 14 years. She knew I would love it.

“How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then rest afterward.”
Spanish Proverb

To one who seeks to enjoy life, this proverb needs to be taken to heart. I am in Mexico right now, alone, doing nothing. Resting. And doing nothing. I came here to snorkel but I find that the real reason I am here is that I need to reconnect with doing nothing and resting.

Often during the course of your life you need to relearn lessons you have learned before. It is so easy to get catch up in “doing” that your body has to give you a loud shout out to give you the message that you need to let go and be.

Being is the healthiest state you can live in. Psychological research says being in the present gives you the most happiness. Being is the only place where vibrant moments spontaneously occur. To reach a being state you must relax, receive, and replenish. This used to be a title of one of my speeches. Remember the 3 R’s.

Bad weather is often a gift because it helps you slow down and spend the day inside doing nothing. As I enjoy a Mexican thunderstorm from my beachfront villa I have time to learn how important it is for me to do nothing and rest afterwards.

Try it and see what happens to you. If your Puritan Ethics and “shoulds” get in the way, you could learn to relax by overcoming that Inner Critic of yours. Relaxing your body is the only way you can receive the precious energy of life into your cells and body to replenish much needed areas.

If you succeed in relaxing, you know immediately because you have more energy. You are excited and ready to do something you love!

OVERCOME YOUR INNER CRITIC! To enjoy the many benefits of relaxing, including better mental and physical health, you must learn to get past your Inner Critic. Getting past your inhibitions is successful only when you become more aware of your body and let it lead the way. Your body adds the strength and security you need that your brain does not have. Step by step, learn to relax and take better care of yourself. Ten written lessons show you how to be effective taming your thoughts plus five hours of audio including the three-hour Opening the Heart series adds the emotional depth needed to make sure you are the victor. $199.97, money-back guarantee.

INTERESTED IN TAKING A DO NOTHING TRIP WITH ME? If so, email me to let me know. I love snorkeling so it must be part of the trip. That means a blue water location.

If you want to experience more emotional and body awareness and do not have local workshops available please email me. I will consider doing a workshop in your area if it is a fun place to visit and if you are able to gather ten people together for the workshop.

How to Feel Happy and Say Wow More Often

The Vibrant Moment – Remember: Experience Wow Often.
Tools from the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Doris Jeanette, Holistic Psychology Mentor, Coach

When was the last time you said, “Wow!” out loud?
When was the last time someone else said, “Wow!” to you?

This is the first thing one of my current clients has been saying for the last few months when we connect on the phone. “Wow!” Her life is certainly not boring, mundane, or ordinary. What about yours?

The Vibrant Moment exists to make sure your life is not boring, mundane, or ordinary. When you are here on planet earth you have the opportunity to have lots of exciting adventures. Sometimes reality is hard and difficult but if you stay in your natural flow, you become stronger and wiser after the hard times.

Regular readers know my mother passed away last winter after about a year of sickness. I mention my life experiences from time to time to help you see how real people live in the flow. While staying in the hard times is difficult when you are grieving or in pain, know that when you get out of the hard times you will experience joy again.

After my exciting, loving, body awareness Nature Workshop this past weekend, I have been walking around my house rubbing my hands together because I am so excited. “Wow!” pops out of my mouth every few minutes. My energy has returned! I finally have some pep!

Awareness is such that you do not notice you are missing something until you get it. I knew I did not have much energy, grieving was using it all up. However, I did not know how ungrounded I was. I was trusting I would move through my grief and get my energy back. And … that is just what happened.

After working in the forest this week-end with a group of caring, open people, my legs are back to sturdy and strong. I have not felt this strong since I rushed to NC to be with my sick mother a year and a half ago. Honestly, the power I feel in my legs may be greater than before.

For sure, my joyful energy has returned and I feel good all over. Of course, my grieving is not over, but this difficult passage in my life has turned a corner. Now I am enjoying the benefits of transformation that come with grieving the loss of a loved one. More of me is present and available for healthy living and vibrant moments.

For you, stay with yourself wherever you are and trust your natural process. If you are in hard times, you will be back to experiencing “Wow!” soon. Just let go of trying to control anything or anyone and more of you will soon be present and available.

Keep the faith. Get grounded and enjoy the moment — whatever it is.

How to Know When You are Grounded and Relaxed

The Vibrant Moment – Remember: Get Grounded.
Tools from the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Doris Jeanette, Holistic Psychology Mentor, Coach

I often mention how important it is for you to be grounded. This is because being ungrounded for you, a human energy system, has the same unpleasant consequences that your light switch suffers when it is ungrounded.

You could burn down your house if your electrical box did not have a safety value to completely shut off the electrical current when the wires get overloaded. Apply the same principles to you, your body, and nervous system.

Just like a teenager who is out of control and desperately needs his parents to ground him until he comes back into balance, you need to keep an eye on yourself. The results of not being grounded are self-destructive. For example, when you are ungrounded, you are anxious, manic, irrational, and accident-prone.

Do you know when you are ungrounded? Here is a list of factors to help you know if you are grounded or not.

If you are grounded you:
Are aware of your body as a solid mass.
Feel energy in your feet.
Are aware of the bottom of your feet connecting to gravity.
You are not moving too fast or too slow.
Are aware of your physical surroundings.
Notice how you are relating to yourself and others.
Are relaxed and present, ready to response appropriately.

The first factor is the most important one. If you are not aware of your body, there is a high probability that you are not grounded. Without body awareness you are in some mental state that is defensive, weak, and unreliable.

Your holistic and mental health are determined by the degree to which you are grounded. Psychologists, coaches, social workers, and therapists, need to get grounded so they can teach you how get grounded and stay grounded.

I was just in Yellowstone National Park enjoying the bears and the signs that said, “Be Bear Aware.” Inspired, I leave you with a strong reminder: “Be Body Aware!”

GET GROUNDED: Mother Nature grounds you and protects you from irrational thoughts. Let me teach you how to get grounded and stay grounded. Relax and express yourself in a small group of interesting people at a Nature Workshop. Near NYC and Philadelphia. Come for the day or spend the colorful fall weekend in New Hope, PA. How to Develop Your Intuition by Tuning Out Static

The Vibrant Moment – Remember: Develop Your Intuition.
Tools from the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Doris Jeanette, Holistic Psychology Mentor, Coach

A reader asks, “How do I fully develop my intuition?”

You may have some idea about what intuition is, but do you really understand it? Let’s define intuition so we know the what, when, where, and how we are talking about.

Some people call intuition “Woo-woo,” magic, or nonsense. Many people think the intuitive self is far inferior to rational thought and brain processing. Currently, we live in the worship-the-brain-above-all-else times. Maybe the times they are a changing?

Some define intuition as an instinct, others say it is a gut feeling. All seem to agree that intuition is knowledge obtained without thinking. Knowing without reason. Facts revealed without conscious thought. No deduction or beliefs involved.

For intuition, you must bypass your brain and go straight to the heart of it. Or the gut of it! This is an important fact to keep in mind when developing your intuition. Your intuitive self lives in your body.

I do not put intuition into the same category as an instinct. Instincts seem more like hardwire. Instincts are reliable, dependable, and you trust them if you want to survive and flourish. Instincts are automatic and obvious unless you work hard to inhibit them. Which some people do, and the result is mental illness and a lack of holistic health.

At this point in our evolution, our intuition is more like software in beta. You have to stop, turn it on, and see if it works. In reality, your intuition is probably “on” all the time, but the volume is so subtle you can easily miss the energy and ignore it. Then when you finally do hear, feel, sense something, the information is fuzzy.

Alas, the information you get may or may not be true. What a mess! Where is this radio station anyway? Do you agree it is not an instinct? However, I predict intuition will become instinctive as we learn to develop and trust the what, where, when, and how of what we are doing.

Ok, so you stop, turn on your intuition and try to get it to work properly. But nothing happens. You don’t get anything you trust. What are you tuning into? Could it be your anxiety and fear? Yes, anxiety interferes and gives you the “wrong” answer. Or, no answer. This happens often in the beginning.

You cannot be intuitive if you are anxious. You may not know you are anxious, but you are. Tension in the body blocks the reception of subtle information. You must remove the irrational anxiety in your body to access your intuitive self. Anxiety is static.

The sound of static on the radio makes it impossible to hear the music and conversation. You must remove your inner static in order to hear your intuitive self speaking. You cannot receive the answers that are always there and always available with static in your nervous system. You tune into your static instead of your intuition.

So, the first thing you must do is calm your nervous system, relax your muscles, and reduce your anxiety. Only then can you hear your inner voice, the same divine voice that Socrates, called daimonion.

Your instinctive self is an extremely valuable resource. So, I will continue spelling out the benefits and development of your intuition next week.

MEET YOUR INTUITIVE SELF: In the arms of Mother Nature it is easier to find your intuitive self. Especially if you have a guide gently showing you how to move pass your static so you hear the clear tones inside of you. Have fun meeting your intuitive self at a Nature Workshop with a small group of intuition seekers. Near NYC and Philadelphia. Spend the lovely fall weekend in New Hope, PA. October 24, 11:00-5:00, $200.00, six openings left.

How to Heal Buttons and Stop Being Reactive

The Vibrant Moment – Remember: Heal Buttons.
Tools from the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Doris Jeanette, Holistic Psychology Mentor, Coach

A reader asks, “How do I channel my sensitive side in a positive way through the divorce. I still have to live with my narcissist husband and he pushes all my buttons.”

Ah, those buttons! Everyone has buttons that get pushed in relationships. Buttons are helpful, red flags that tell you something inside of you has not been healed, and desperately needs to be healed. Buttons are gaping emotional wounds.

You do not have to be a highly sensitive person to have buttons and to have them trigged by someone’s comment or behavior. However, if you are a highly sensitive person you may over react more often and be more defensive when someone touches your wounds. This is because you feel the emotional pain more intensely.

This is not a disadvantage. I used to wish I was not so sensitive. This was before I knew the advantages of feeling so much, so deeply. When you feel what is really going on inside of you, and outside of you, you have the potential to develop exquisite empathy and solid self-confidence.

If you learn the difference between thoughts and feelings, you can trust what you feel in your body. Instead of thinking or believing in false beliefs, you can stand in physical reality. Deducting or pretending about reality does not make you more self-confident; it makes you weaker, like your narcissistic husband.

Consider your strengths. A highly sensitive person feels internal and external anxiety. Many people bind their anxiety by staying busy or denying their leg that is physically jumping up and down! Anxiety is in their leg, making it jump up and down, yet, they do not feel anxious or know they are anxious. This means their anxious leg is out of control and out of their awareness.

Being out of touch with your leg jumping up and down is not helpful. The results of having this much anxiety in your body have major consequences. There is a high probability that you will suffer from poor mental, emotional, and physical health. So be grateful you experience your anxiety and discomfort. This is far better than your unconscious husband who thinks you have all the problems.

Be glad you know you have buttons. Thank the person who pushes them. When buttons are pushed you have the chance to unlearn your ineffective habit of reacting and being defensive. Instead, you can learn to feel what you really feel.

When your husband says, “You are too sensitive, why does that bother you.” Instead of defending against how you feel, feel it. Feel stupid, dumb, scared, inferior, dirty, selfish, guilty or whatever. If you want to be strong and improve your self esteem, your job is to feel what you feel.

Feel stupid, and at the same time, support yourself emotionally. Stay with your sensitive self and do not call her stupid. Protect your emotional self from any outside judgment with genuine self-acceptance.

Soon you will be noticing the other person’s anxious body language and irrational behavior and feel grateful you are standing in reality instead of losing touch with your body.

READ BODY LANGUAGE: Feel in your body the difference between thoughts and feelings. Get practice standing in reality and feeling solid self-esteem. Become more aware of what you really feel and begin to trust what you feel. Learn about body language in the forest near New Hope, PA, Oct 24. Your personal requests are addressed. How to Overcome Perfectionism? Stop Anxiety From Ruining Your Life!

The Vibrant Moment – Remember: Chaos is Not Dangerous.
Tools from the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Doris Jeanette, Holistic Psychology Mentor, Coach

Do you want to be perfect?
Do you find fault with people who are slow or unsure?

Perhaps you have an inner critic called “Ms. Perfect” or “Mr. Never Satisfied.” Perfectionism is a serious upper class mental health problem. Even the middle and lower classes can think being perfect has it virtues. A la the White Picket Fence Envy Syndrome of those living outside the perfect house where the perfect family live with the perfect kids and perfect jobs.

Perfect people cannot let go of control and experience colors, feelings, and emotions. Therefore, if you try to be perfect you do not enjoy vibrant moments, playful lovemaking, and heart-felt happiness. Being spontaneous, free, and joyful are rare events if you spend your time trying to be perfect.

Trying to be perfect makes you anxious and keeps you controlled. Since you are afraid of doing something wrong and bad, you severely inhibit your body and how it moves. This causes mental illness, sleepless nights, boredom, and physical diseases. Notice how much energy being perfect consumes.

Early in my career I discovered that perfect people were always afraid that if they let go of control they would be out of control. Perhaps you also need to know that when you let go of control you are not automatically in an out of control state. You may feel out of control since you are not used to chaos. Chaos is a period of time where you experience being a mess or making a mess.

If you do not have a mess or become a mess, from time to time, then you are stuck in a tiny perfect place of rigidity. Messes are part of the natural process of transformation. Chaos is not an out of control state. It is a necessary state you must accept, if you want to be successful in personal growth and make dramatic changes in your life.

Note what the scientist credited with discovering Chaos Theory, Edward Lorenz, called his paper in 1972: “Predictability: Does the Flap of a Butterfly’s Wings in Brazil set off a Tornado in Texas?” Indeed it could and more. Chaos fuels personal growth, change, and transformation.

Some of you may be familiar with the ongoing story of the man in North Carolina on the CBS Evening News who is dying and finding deep meaning and purpose to his life. In March, 2015, we learned that he had tested the “butterfly effect” to see if one act of kindness in a North Carolina restaurant could go around the world. His act of kindness reached Africa.

What about you? What do you set off when you flap your wings or break free? What happens when you stop controlling yourself and create a mess? What are the results of not washing the dishes and making love instead?

We know from Chaos Theory that Mother Nature does indeed know what she is doing. Disorder, just like feeling your emotions, moves into order naturally on its own. It is safe to let go of control and enjoy the natural flow of your energy. Your natural energy flow gives you peak experiences and makes you physically stronger and mentally healthier.

On the other hand, being out of control is dangerous. Flying mental energy bolting around without awareness is dangerous. When your energy is not grounded, you are out of control. This means you need to quickly get back in your body and ground your energy so you do not hurt yourself or others.

Chaos is not dangerous. Chaos is part of nature and obeys natural laws. Go ahead and let go of control. Enjoy being an artist and free spirit, make a mess and reap the benefits of being creative and happy.

Self-Confidence Advice: Use Common Sense the Holistic Psychology Way

The Vibrant Moment – Remember: Use Common Sense.
Tools from the Center for New Psychology

What is common sense?

Common sense is the ability to come up with a sound decision based on a realistic perception of a situation or facts.

You have plenty of innate common sense and can use your common sense to make your life effective, which is the opposite of dysfunctional. To use your common sense you must not listen to what others tell you you should do and should not do.

When you are in touch with your common sense you make good, sound decisions. You know when someone or something does not feel good, right, or correct. Even if you are taking an effective home study course or following the instructions given by a knowledgeable holistic psychologist you must use your own common sense.

For example, I often recommend Color and Sound Therapy to help you move through emotional and physical issues. However, you can over do it! You can use too much color or sound, giving you negative results. This would only occur if you are listening to the should and should nots in your head. Your common sense would tell you enough is enough!

Perhaps you misunderstood the instructions, maybe you are more sensitive to color and sound than others, or maybe the instructor didn’t think of everything. It could also be that your ego is pushing you to do more, and more, and more! Your bully ego is often the problem.

When your sneaky ego dominates you, you do not have access to your common sense. Your common sense makes sure you get positive results no matter what you do and how you do it. You can learn from any experience, and feel empowered, no matter what happens.

The difference between using your common sense and being controlled by should and should nots is the difference between holistic health and mental illness. When you listen to the should and should nots in your head that you learned from others, you are headed toward depression, anxiety, and NO vibrant moments.

Depressed energy can move. Anxious energy can slow down and you can get in touch with your authentic self’s energy. When you fall into your authentic self and allow your energy to relax and be natural, you give up depression and anxiety. This is an awesome physical experience and creates a vibrant moment or two.

Use your common sense for better holistic health and lots more fun.
