Do you know what you need and want?

So many people tell me that they do not know what they want and need. They just don’t know or they are not sure and secure in their knowing. Knowing exactly what you want and need is the first step in getting what you want and need. Otherwise, you do not have a chance!

In order to know what you want and need, you must listen to the correct answer. Listening to your ego and brain does not “grow corn.” Your ego leads you to more control, anxiety, depression, and emotional distress. On the other hand, listening to your heart and body grows sweet, delicious corn. You are happy and satisfied when you follow your heart. Spring is the time to plant the correct seeds so you have a good harvest in the fall.

This means you must learn how to bypass your brain and listen to your heart, emotional self, and body. A simple question like, “What do I really want to eat for dinner?” can make the difference between being grumpy and feeling happy. Getting the correct answer can make the difference between successful, permanent weight-loss and failure.

If you already know what you need and want, make a list now before reading any further. Your list can range from food for dinner, to your dream vacation, a new job, or healthy relationships. After you write down your desires and needs, examine each one to make sure the source is from your heart.

When you listen to your heart and body you have the potential to experience pleasure and health. Your body wants to be healthy and your emotional self wants to be happy. They rejoice and respond when you give them what they need and want. Weight-loss and success become easier and more fun.

How do you get the correct heart-felt answer?

1. You stop thinking.
2. Take three deep breaths.
3. Ask your question.
4. Listen.
3. Honor the answer.

If you listen deeply and allow the answer to come to you instead of deducting it, it is from your heart. For example, ask your body what it wants to eat. Listen and receive the answer. The answer may come in words, sensations, and colors.

Ask your emotional self, the little girl or little boy inside of you, what would taste yummy. The answer may come in feelings, knowings, words, or images. Be quiet, receive, and honor the answer or answers.

If you do not hear and receive answers, this means your critical, judgmental self is stopping you from connecting with your emotional self. Also, notice what you do if you receive an answer and do not honor it. Could it be that your judgmental self is telling you the answer is not good for you, is incorrect or not healthy?

Listening to yourself and others grows delicious sweet corn. You relate more effectively with others and they enjoy your company. You relate better with yourself so your emotional self and body are happy and healthy instead of resisting you and foiling your plans.

Where are you stuck?
Can you tell the difference between false beliefs and truth?

Frequently, in holistic psychology sessions with my clients, I sense and feel a woman or man to be in a physical state of energy that is different from where he or she thinks they are. You cannot stand in false beliefs and be successful. Only when you stand in reality can you manifest what you want in life. My mother signed every card she sent me with “Bless you.” Sometimes, it was even “God bless you.” As a young psychologist, I did not like her religious tones and words. I threw her blessings into the trash in my Center City, Philadelphia home with irritation and disapproval.

How does an open heart chakra feel?

A chakra is a place on your body where more energy goes and comes than in other places on your body. Think of a chakra as a pathway, a door, vortex, or hole. It is an energy center; where energy is suppose to move in and out of your body naturally and normally to maintain good holistic health.

A closed heart is one that inhibits the natural flow and blocks the energy from coming in or from going out of your body. An open heart allows energy to freely move in and out without being stopped. Unfortunately, you cannot choose the energy that comes in and out.

This means that whatever type of energy that is occurring outside of you at any moment in time comes in. Thus, the anxiety your parents experienced came into your open heart as a child, without either you or them knowing this was occurring. As a child, you were not equipped with the psychological tools needed to deal with your parents’ anxiety.

Anxiety is unpleasant, naturally you wanted to move away from it. Consequently, as a child, you closed your energy centers whenever someone’s anxiety hurt and wounded you. This occurred automatically over time. You were unconsciously opening and closing your energy centers because you were trying to protect yourself from being hurt.

The stimuli that made you close your heart could be your mother hurting your feelings or your father throwing you against the wall. Little and big, emotional and physical hurts, all create the same result: a closed heart chakra. Usually, the more you were hurt, the more you close your energy centers and the harder it is to open them.

I group the solar plexus, which is right underneath your breasts, with the heart chakra. These two energy centers work together to help you become a more loving, caring, sensitive, emotionally healthy person. If you want to be happy and healthy, you must re-open your energy centers so healthy energy can move in and out of you.

I leave the tissue box across the room, away from all the places to sit. My sensitive nose responses to various stimuli that others do not seem to be bothered by. Often, out of the blue, a tissue is needed due to my rapid firing nerves cells producing a sneezing attack.

How do you honor Earth Day?
How do you stay healthy in mind and body?

Put in your intention to honor Mother Earth on Earth Day 2014 in some way that benefits you. Nature is your mother and the closer you are to her healthy ways, the better. If you have wandered off and away from Mother Earth into your computer and cell phone, it is time to come back to her.

If you feel depressed, down, tired, lonely, or looney, find a tree to spend the day with or at least a few hours. My favorite trees, which are in bloom right now, in the marvelous Philadelphia area, are the cherry trees.

There are many varieties and the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia has blessed our city with an abundance of cherry trees to sit under. I know many of these cherry trees personally and visit as they reach their peak: some on foot, many on bicycle, and some out of town in the country gardens. This past weekend I was at Morris Arboretum on Saturday and Tyler Arboretum on Sunday.

When you find a tree to spend the day with, notice how you change and shift over the course of the time you spend with your tree. Each tree is different. Every tree has a purpose, with a unique energy that it gives to you, a recent human being on the planet.

I hope you are able to find a cherry tree to connect with for a few hours. If you do, please notice how the cherry trees affect your body and mood. Are you afraid of losing a loved one?

For the second time in my life I was in a full-blown panic. I knew my 85-year-old mother’s heart was out of rhythm and planed to visit her in two weeks when her treatments were scheduled.  However, her physician just informed her, based on her stress test, that she had had a heart attack sometime within the last seven years that she did not know she had experienced. Due to the heart attack, he wanted to move up the procedures he hoped would correct her heart problem. He was afraid.

Over my 36 years of being in clinical practice, I have noticed the pattern that women and men often experience anxiety and panic attacks after one or both of their parents die. What is this panic and anxiety that gets triggered? I learn a great deal about human nature by observing myself as well as others.

The first time I experienced panic was when I thought my lover was going to leave me. Panic and anxiety are not the same thing as fear. Panic overwhelms you and consumes you. Its energy is sudden, intense and you are at its mercy unless you have the tools to transform its overwhelming energy into real fears, real problems, and real solutions.

When you lose a deep, strong emotional connection with another human being or animal what happens inside of you? You may have experienced a high pitched anxiety and denied it. Several well-executed research studies have shown that people who enjoy sexual activities are physically healthier than people who do not. Study after study has also shown that people who enjoy physical activities are mentally healthier than people who do not.

So? What about you?

Several readers of The Vibrant Moment mentioned to me within the last month that they are dealing with serious physical problems.  I recently got a common cold that lingered on for three weeks with a stubborn cough keeping me awake at night.

All of us are humbled from time to time with physical challenges.  Once the body is weak and sick, it takes much more energy to heal and become stronger than it does to stay healthy and strong in the first place.

However, never be judgmental toward your body when you are sick. It is not your body’s fault that you are sick. Remember this fact and do not forget this fact. It is not your body’s responsibility that you are sick, so do not attack your body and be mad at your body.

Instead, be kind and gentle with yourself when your body is weak, sick and not healthy. Give yourself whatever you need to become healthy, using the very best of Western, Eastern and Natural Holistic Healing approaches.

Obviously, it is essential to work at the physical level when you are physically sick. In addition, it is equally important to work at the emotional, mental and energetic levels when you are sick.  This is the reason I do not understand why physicians are booked up for weeks in advance and psychologists, body workers, energy workers and holistic health practitioners are not.

If you want to reach and maintain good holistic health, you need to rush to the people who teach you how to become more aware of the energy that is making you sick.  You need to become aware of the psychological reasons you are sick. Do not rush to physicians for treatments and medications that do not cure your physical problems.

Usually, you do not know what is making you sick.  Just as you may not know that eating tuna everyday could result in mercury poisoning that is slowing killing your body, you may not know the psychological reasons you are getting weak, sick and suffering pain.

The reason you do not know what is making you sick is that the psychological facts and truths are in your unconscious.  You are not aware of what you are doing to create disease and disharmony in your body and cells. You are not aware of what you need to be aware of in order to become healthier and stronger in the flesh. How could you be?

You cannot be aware of something you are not aware of. This is the reason you must work with others that teach you how to become more aware of what you are not aware of!  Rush to skilled, competent professionals who teach you to become more aware of what is lurking in your unconscious.

What you do not know can make you sick and could eventually kill you earlier than your natural death.  This is the reason it is important to take the time to become more aware of what you do not know.  Getting sick is based on certain facts. Getting sick does not happen out of the blue. You can learn the reasons you get sick so you can help yourself become healthier over time by addressing the cause.

So, get the physical treatments you need immediately to help yourself when you are sick. Then rush to holistic health professionals and holistic psychologists who teach you how to become more aware.  You must bring your unconscious truths up to the conscious mind so you are more aware of the inner and outer realities that are making you sick.

If you do not become aware of how you are creating disharmony in your body, cells, psyche, mind, brain, heart and energy, you cannot change and stop it. If you do not become aware of self-rejection and transform this energy into self-acceptance, you could die before your natural death process begins.  And you could suffer from physical pain and discomfort needlessly along the way.
