What do you want out of life before you die?

Over the 35 years that I have been leading groups and
workshops I always start by asking people what they
want to get out of the time we spend together.

When they share their desires with the group it helps
them set their intention in motion. This means they
begin to go where they want to go.

When they share their heartfelt energy with the group,
it also helps me as the leader.   When I discover what
they want and need, I immediately know what I need to
present in order for them to experience what they
desire by the end of the day.

Experience is the key word.

My goal as the leader is to provide an experience in
real life that gives you exactly what you want.  An
experience is an event, an energy, a knowing that you
do not forget.

When you experience something new, different and real,
you learn something new, different and real.

What kind of experiences are you giving to yourself?

If you do not experience something new, different and
real, you will stay stuck right where you are.  Wherever
you are, is where you will be.

So if you want to move toward your desires, you need to
give yourself a new, different experience today.

So back to my first question: What do you want out of
life before you die?

Answer this question by writing down exactly what your
heart longs for…

You will:
Discover something new you did not know you wanted.
Become aware of the importance of one desire over another.
Reaffirm the goals you already knew you had.
Take your goals more seriously.
Set in motion your intention to reach your desires.

Take your written list and read it out loud a few times.
Then post your precious list on your refrigerator and
read it every day. This action will definitely help you
move forward toward your heart’s desires.

If you do this exercise, there is a good chance you will
have a new, exciting experience.

My mentor, Jack Schwarz, taught me about energy flow
back in the early 1980’s.  Sometimes I forget that you
may not know the reason energy flow is a highly
desirable goal.

My current mentor repeatedly says, “This sentence with
‘healthy energy’ in it does not tell me anything. I
do not understand what energy is and how it is related
to health. These connections are not obvious. What is
healthy? How do I know what is healthy?”

I scratch my head and wonder, “How could she not know
what is healthy? Isn’t healthy self-obvious?”  Finally
I realize, nothing is obvious until you learn about it.

So, let me see if I can make the connection between
health and energy flow clear for you.  You probably
know that stagnant water is unhealthy for you and that
you do not want to drink it.

You may have seen the American Western TV or movies
where the thirsty cowboys come across a pool of water
that is not safe to drink.  The music suddenly becomes
foreboding and scary.  You see cattle bones all around
the pool of water to indicate that the animals who
drank this water died.

Therefore, you learn that any pool of water that becomes
stagnant is dangerous to your health.  You learn that
when water stops moving, bacteria quickly begins to grow.
You discover that stagnant water will kill you if you
drink it and make you sick if you bathe in it.

We can apply this same principle to energy. Stagnant
energy is dangerous to your health in the same way that
stagnant water is dangerous to your health.

When your human energy stops moving, disharmony quickly
begins to grow. Stagnant human energy will kill you if
you hold on to it and make you sick if you hang out
in it.

Stagnant energy exists in your:
1.  Body
2.  Mind
3.  Energy field
4.  Numerous relationships with the outer world
5.  Groups
6.  Organizations

Energy that does not move makes you sick, unhappy and
ineffective. Stagnant energy in your cells over long
periods of time can kill you.

Stagnant energy creates:
1. Mental illness
2. Emotional immaturity
3. Physical disease
4. Mundane living
5. Ordinary existence

Therefore, stagnant human energy is unhealthy for you
in any form. The antidote to stagnant energy is
flowing energy. This means that flowing human energy
is healthy for you in any form.

Holistic health is defined by the amount of energy
moving in your mind-body at any given point in time.
The more energy flow, the healthier you are in body
and mind.

This means you need to allow your energy to flow more
freely if you want to be healthier and happier.

Parent Education: Let Your Emotions and Feelings Move

A Vibrant Moment reader sent me a perfect example of
how parents affect their children.

Last week’s newsletter was on how your body knows and
picks up information.  It also explained how others
affect your body and how your body affects others.

Now read the email I received from a single mother
with two young children. She was happy to share
her story with you.

“Dear Dr. Jeanette,

This particular Vibrant Moment resonated so deeply
with me that I wanted to share it with you.

A few months ago I fell in love with a man who had
fallen in love with me as well.  All would be great
and beautiful save the fact this man is married with
a beautiful family.  It has been tearing me apart.
Nothing has been secret, in fact she suspected our
connection before we had even fully realized it and
matters unfolded in a most complicated manner from
there.

Anyway, since that time I have been having stomach
pains.  I just realized the other night how
consistent it has been and connected the duration to
this relationship and its complex nature.  Well in
the past few months my children have both been
complaining of stomach pains.

While at first, finding no apparent medical
significance (no diarrhea, constipation, etc.), I
thought perhaps they were just bids for more attention,
which I provided.  After reading your Vibrant Moment
it came to me that perhaps they are being empathetic.

Thank you for being who you are and sharing your
knowledge and wisdom.”

Here we have an example of two lovely, sensitive
children being empathetic with their mother.  Children
automatically resonate with their mother.  Empathy is
usually a wonderful experience because this means the
children enjoy a close and loving relationship with
their mother.

However, when a mother is trying to control her emotions
instead of feeling them, empathy can become a serious
problem.  Children do not know or understand what is
happening.  All they know is their stomachs hurt.

Their mother did not know or understand what was
happening until she connected the dots after reading
last week’s “Vibrant Moment.” Now the mother knows that
her children are feeling in their stomachs the emotional
pain that is stuck in her stomach.

Pay attention to your stomach and see what you are
experiencing.  Are you feeling your own stuck energy like
the Mother in this example?  Or are you feeling your
father’s?  Your partner’s? Your boss?

The solution is to feel your emotions and let them move.
When you feel your emotions, your emotional energy
naturally and normally moves through your body creating
more health.

For Parents:  Feel your emotions so that you do not hurt
your children.  Help your children feel their body and
express their emotions so they do not become sick,
anxious and depressed.

For Professionals: Become aware of your emotions so that
you know what you are feeling and do not get confused
between your pain and your client’s pain. Develop your
skill in reading and using physical and emotional energy
to help your clients become healthier.

A client I have worked with off and on over my 35 year
career was very upset and sad last week.

I had the privilege of working with each of her family
members at certain times over the years.  As a result
I learned a great deal about mental health, family
dynamics and how to heal emotional wounds from working
with her.

As soon as she sat down, she said, “I have some bad
news about my daughter.  Her breast cancer has spread
to her bones.”

I felt my stomach go into a hard knot that felt like a
solid piece of rock. Her statement took my breath away
as I sank into reality.  My stomach felt like a black
hole full of hard, frozen pain.

My 83-year-old client continued, “It will be terrible
if my daughter dies before I do. She is only 50
years old.”

I took a deep breath and held my stomach.  As I
exhaled, I empathized, “It would be very, very sad if
she dies before you.”

Since I am empathic and kinesthetic, I feel in my
body how others feel in theirs. I was pretty sure my
stomach was resonating with my client’s stomach.  When
I mentioned the hard rock feeling in my stomach, she
said, “Yes, my stomach is tight and hurts.”

This is the way energy works. Just as one tuning fork
resonates with another tuning fork, human bodies
with the bodies around them. This is the
reason I can work on the phone so effectively.  I
resonate, which is another way to say, I feel.

When you are around people, notice the information that
is available to you via your body.  Body awareness is
extremely helpful.

I was able to tell what my client was feeling so I
knew how to help her relax her stomach and begin to
let her grief move through her body instead of getting
stuck in her stomach.

It will be very helpful to you to notice your body.
You can develop your ability to read the information
available so that you know what is going on with you
and others.

When you can read the information in your body, you
have the ability to heal your unhealthy energy before
it is too late.

You can also learn how to  disengage from other
people’s unhealthy energy so that you are not harmed
or drained by outside factors.

Increase your body awareness if you want to become
stronger and healthier.

body and express their emotions.

For Professionals: Become aware of your body so that
you can use the information in your body to know what
is going on with your clients. Your feeling ability is

Negative, Obsessive Thoughts? Get Anxiety Help For You and Your Child

Is your child or niece going off to college?
Do you stay awake at night worrying?

A research study with Stanford University students
found that 95% of the thoughts college students have
are negative thoughts about themselves.

The negative thoughts you have about yourself tend to
repeat over and over again. These negative thoughts
can recur during your waking state and in your dreams.

Yes, notice how often you dream the same dream with
the same theme.  And of course, these same thoughts
are the ones that keep you awake at night so that
you cannot sleep with ease.

Your brain is amazing.  It loves to think.  And if
you are a bit anxious it can go wild against itself.
Your brain can drive you crazy by thinking the same
thought over and over again.

Thinking the same thought more than three times is
called obsessive thinking.  Obsessive thinking will
keep your young college student from being able to
concentrate and study effectively for his first test.

Your niece could drop out of college due to her
obsessive thinking. Does she know how to study
effectively? Does she know how to get help with her
obsessive thinking and anxiety?

You need to learn effective ways to tame your
thoughts and keep them from ruining your sleep,
lunch and fun.  Then you can help your child or niece
learn how to study, concentrate and be effective with
their thinking.

I stay away from mental approaches; they keep your
mind far too active.  Instead, I use body approaches.
Increase your body awareness and body use.

Body approaches are powerful weapons against out of
control, obsessive thinking.  If you learn, develop and
use body approaches you will tame your thoughts.

For Parents:  Make sure your college student is
prepared and ready for his or her first semester.
Help him learn effective study skills so he has time
for fun and friends. Talk with him about negative,
obsessive thinking and tell him to get help before he
gets an upset stomach or drops out.

For Professionals: Tame your own thoughts so you can
help your clients tame theirs.  Obsessive thinking is a
sign of anxiety. The way to solve obsessive thinking is
to reduce your anxiety and teach your client’s how to
reduce their anxiety. Use body approaches.

Breaking Up? Getting a Divorce? Love Relationship Advice: Look in the Mirror

Are you breaking up with someone? Getting a divorce?
Or just fighting and getting no where?

If you look in the mirror, you can discover a great
deal about yourself. You can see what others see.

If you are breaking up, getting a divorce or just
fighting and getting nowhere, it is in your best
interest to look at yourself.  If you have never had
a loving relationship, you definitely need to take a
good look at yourself.

When my heart was broken at the age of 34, I was in so
much pain I could hardly bear to move. I cried up and
down the stairs in my Center City home in Philadelphia.

I had a waiting list in my private practice. I thought
this proved I was conscious and aware. I thought this
proved I was loving and caring. How could this
happen to me?

Breaking up is never easy.  Sometimes families are
torn asunder. Hearts are broken and ripped apart.
Loving relationships end with bitterness and blame.

My excruciating, painful break up motivated me to look
at myself.

To see myself better, I began to buy and put up mirrors
all over my house.  The mirrors were old and new. Large
and small.  Pretty and plain.

You can do the same. You can even use the reflection of
the glass panes around you as you walk in your
environment. You can use the window panes of your car.
You can use the mirrors you already own.

Find the closest mirror and try your best to see what
you are looking at.  Look with new eyes at yourself.
Look with fresh, objective eyes.

You can look and see yourself from a new, enlightened
point of view.

Are you anxious?
Relaxed?
Do you have a tight face, tight shoulder?
Is your right shoulder higher than your left?
Are you open, loving?
Does your ego have a hold of you?
Can you see your critical face?
Do you notice your tense body?

If you keep looking in the mirror you will find the
part of you that is tight and rigid.  This is the part
of you that you can unlearn, own and let go of.  This
is your ego. This is the learned, defensive part of you
that causes problems in relationships.

Looking in mirrors is good medicine.

Looking in mirrors helped me learn to read body
language, emotional states and energy fields.  You can
do the same.

For Parents:  Look at yourself and look at your child.
See if you can see what part of you is dominant in the
morning. Look at your child and see how she responds
when you frown at her or criticize her.

For Professionals: Look in the mirror and see what your
clients see. I have four mirrors in my office. I can see
me and I help them see me. How do you look the moment
before they come into your office?  How do you look in
the morning when you get up? How do you look when your
clients leaves your office?

Sound and Color Therapy: Depression and Anxiety Help, Open Your Chakras

Are you the same color this year as last?
Are you becoming more open or stuck in one place?

Colors, just like emotions, do not stay stuck in
one place.

This means your relationship to color is constantly
changing.  Your relationship to color can change at a
moment’s notice just like your emotions suddenly
change and rearrange.

As a matter of fact, your relationship to color changes
dramatically depending on how much you are changing
emotionally and physically.  If you are becoming more
open and healthier your relationship to color changes.

Last week I told you I was red.  In the last six months
my relationship to red has changed dramatically.

In February I developed a red rash on my abdomen while
I was in Glenwood Springs, Colorado swimming in the
world’s largest outdoor hot springs pool.  I have been
swimming in these healing waters for 18 years.

The high sulfur content in the warm, therapeutic pool
always helps me clean away my toxins.  However, this
year my skin did not seem happy with the heat.

I was trying to heal the rash each night with my
smoothing tea tree oil.  Tea tree oil usually takes care
of most problems my sensitive, delicate skin develops.
Tea tree oil was not helping.

I tried Vitamin E, aloe, castor oil. Nothing was improving
the rash. So, I swam in the cooler part of the gigantic
pool and stayed out of the hot, hot water which I love.
Still the rash persisted.

One night, I put on my red pajamas and something did not
feel right.  I wanted to take off my soft, red shirt
immediately. So I quickly took off my red top. I felt
better as soon as the red was off my skin.

At first I was not sure what was happening.  After a few
nights, it was clear.  The color red make the rash more
unpleasant and I could not bear the intensity of red
against my skin.

I switched to white pajamas.  This color was the only one
I could tolerate against my skin.  I tried to wear my
favorite red pjs again the next week. I had the same
unpleasant reaction. So I stayed with white. The rash
cleared up in a few weeks.

Red was the dominant color in my wardrobe.  I loved red,
wore red and needed red.  Suddenly my relationship to
red was changing dramatically. I could not tolerate its
intensity.

Now, four months later I just noticed this morning that
the two pair of shoes I wore yesterday were bright,
beautiful turquoise.

I have been craving blue, wearing blue and needing blue.
I have not worn any of those red clothes I own since
February.  Blue is the color I am wearing most often.

Over the course of the last six months, the back of my
throat chakra has been opening.  As a result of this
dramatic, intense shift, my entire relationship to red
has changed.  My relationship to blue has also
dramatically changed.

Pay attention to your relationship to each color and what
it means. Get to know more about how open and closed your
chakras are.

Be Careful.  Do not use too much color all at once. Like
eating, it is not healthy to put too much on your plate.
Slow down to feel more.  You need to learn to feel subtle
vibrations.  Take a very small bite of color and chew well.
Do not add more color until you know what it is doing to
your mind-body.

For Parents:  Use Color Therapy with your children to
keep them healthy and strong.  Color Therapy is a great way
to keep them from getting depressed and anxious. If they
are already depressed or anxious, use Sound and Color
Therapy to help them return to health.

For Professionals: If you do not use Sound and Color
Therapy, consider adding it to your tool box. Color and
sound are powerful, effective, safe ways to shift your
unhealthy energy to healthy energy. Then you can teach
your clients how to do the same.

Do you notice how color affects you during the day?
Do you know which color you need?

Color is a powerful tool you can use in your daily
life to feel better emotionally. You can use color to
relax your nerves and help you get through a difficult
situation with more ease.

The proper use of color can improve your mental,
emotional and physical health.

Some of us know that the future psychology and medicine
will primarily use color, light, sound and energy to
heal people.

Color is a civilized, safe, effective method that you
can use today to prevent physical and mental problems
and improve the ones that already exist.

To get started you need to increase your color
awareness.

For example, what is your dominant color? Do you know?
Is it your favorite color?  Maybe. Maybe not.

A simple way to get to know your dominant color is to
take a look at your wardrobe. What is the dominant
color in your washing machine? What is the dominant
color in your closet? What is the color that you wear
most often?

This is your color. Write down your color. Get to know
the information in your color by paying attention to its
vibrations. Learn what your color tells you about you.

My color was red for years upon years. I even had a red
door and red shutters on my Center City home in
Philadelphia. This was my identity.  I loved red,
needed red and wore red.

Next week I will tell you how my relationship to red has
changed over the last six months.

Breaking Up? Getting a Divorce? Improve Your Relationship Skills

Who do you trust?
What energy do you trust?

A young man in Pakistan wrote me and told me his story.
He explained that he felt bad because he just broke up
with his girlfriend.  He confessed, “The relationship
ended because I never trusted her.”

He never did trust her. He always suspected her of
kissing and hugging other men. The end result was his
heart was broken. He does not know what to do.

Here is a portion of my answer to him, “At the age of
two is when you learn to either trust or distrust the
world you live in. If your parents are honest,
reliable, dependable and allow you freedom of
expression, you develop trust.

If your parents are dishonest with others, unreliable
in relationship to you, do not meet your physical needs,
ignore your emotional needs and inhibit your full body
expressions, you learn to distrust your world.

Given the degree of distrust that you have, I would
suspect that your parents are in this later category.”

This means this young man is stuck in the distrust that
he learned in his past.  At this moment in time, he does
not trust anyone enough to help him get out of his
vicious circle of unhealthy energy.

He is:
1. Projecting his distrustful past on his girlfriend.
2. Looking for evidence to prove that she cannot be
trusted.
3. Creating evidence to confirm that she cannot be
trusted. This could be imagined or created as a result
of his distrusting behavior toward her.
4. Concluding that he was right, she could not be trusted.

Thus, he is stuck in his own projections from his past.

If you are trapped in a vicious circle, you need to find
some energy in a person or in reality that you can trust.
The energy of truth is different from the energy of
projection.

If you can find someone or something to trust, the energy
of truth will show you the way out of your helplessness.

Relationship Advice: Mend Your Broken Heart, Heal Heartache

Do you have a heartache? A broken heart?
Do you feel alone even in your loving relationship?

When the trust in a relationship is broken, it creates
deep emotional wounds. Trust is broken when people
blame, attack, criticize and seriously hurt each other.

If you do not heal your deep emotional wounds, you will
not have satisfying intimacy in your current
relationship. If you break up or get a divorce, you
will still continue to repeat the same hurtful
emotional patterns in new relationships.

The best relationship advice I can give you is to heal
your heartache and mend your broken heart.

This means you need to put your major focus on healing
your original wound. The original wound was when the
trust between you and your parents was first broken.

Your trust was broken when one or both of your parents
blamed, attacked, criticized or seriously hurt your
precious feelings.  The parent you love the most could
be the one who hurt you the most.

My mother loved me completely. I loved my mother
completely.  We were emotionally attached and very close.
My trust in her was complete.  Yet, she was the one who
once hurt my feelings so badly that I never forgave her.

I was devastated and vowed to never, ever again share my
feelings with anyone.  This was the moment my heart closed.
I was six.

Later in life, at the age of 34,  I suffered a broken heart
when my beloved betrayed me. This was the turning point
in my life.

Instead of avoiding my emotional pain, I chose to feel my
hurt and pain. The pain in my heart led me to my original
emotional wound at six with my mother.

As a result, I was able to heal my heartache and open my
heart.  I learned how to build trust in relationships by
learning how to trust myself. I developed a trusting, loving
relationship with my emotional self.

You can do the same. You can choose to feel rather than avoid
your hurt and pain. This is the best relationship advice you
can follow if you want to reach inner peace and happiness.

You will become weaker if you continue to avoid your pain. You
will become stronger if you find your original wound so you
can heal it.

The healing process is the same if you are in a loving
relationship, breaking up with your partner or getting a
divorce.

Mending a broken heart is the work of the Divine.
