Is It Healthy Emotional Flow or It Is Unhealthy Ego Control?
December 16, 2007 by Doris Jeanette.
Excepted from ebook, Opening the Heart, Chapter 1, Feelings: The Source of Authentic Love. Available at http://www.drjeanette.com/tapes.html
Let me say more about control so you begin to see control for what it is. Control is anything you use to avoid reality at any given moment in time. You may have the best intentions in the world, such as becoming healthier and happier, and still end up controlling yourself.
For example, if you are in therapy or some healing process, you might say to yourself, “I have to heal myself. I have to become healthy. I have to do it this way, to do it the right way.”
You end up doing the things you “should” do or are “supposed” to do, to heal yourself. Whether your goal is to be more spiritual, or to control your diet, or control your exercise. The result is you are making yourself be a certain way. You are in a state of unhealthy control when you must exercise a certain way or eat in a certain way.
You begin to recognize control by the energy behind your words, actions and behaviors. You cannot recognize control by the content. The content is full of lies, which your ego tells you. Words lie. Energy does not.
Control is a mechanism you use to force yourself to go too fast or too slow. Or in a certain direction you don’t really want to go. You begin to notice control by the feel of the energy and not by the content.
Your ego may say to you,” Let’s go swimming tonight.” You think to yourself, “Do I feel like going swimming tonight? “ Your ego says, “You know how much you love to go swimming.” “Yes, I love swimming more than anything else in the world.” Yet, when you pay attention to yourself, you notice, “ I don’t feel like going swimming tonight.” The ego insists,” Oh yes, you do!”
As you can see, the way you control yourself can be very subtle and insidious. Begin to notice your ego by its controlling energy so you stop letting it ruin your life. Another example is when you pretend your feelings are not hurt when they really are hurt. Or you pretend you are not afraid, when you really are afraid.
In addition, you can exaggerate you are more upset than you really are. You can react to something as if it was the worst thing in the world and it really isn’t the worst thing in the world. You just act like it is the worse thing in the world. This is your ego over reacting.
When I was developing an equal and loving relationship with my mother, she turned whatever I bought up to her about my past hurt feelings against herself. She said, “Oh, what a terrible mother I am. What a horrible mother I was to you,” which, of course, was not true. I was not saying she was a terrible mother, I just wanted to express how I felt to her and be listened to. My mother’s behavior completely avoided the real situation with me.
What I needed was a real mother to relate to me as a real child. When my mother attacked herself, she was copping out on me. She was not taking responsibility for herself. She was saying what a terrible mother she was, instead of meeting me as an equal and dealing with how I had felt hurt and betrayed by her.
My mother did not say, ”I didn’t know you felt this way. I am sorry. Let’s deal with this. Let’s relate to each other and come to know each other.” Thanks goodness, we were able to cry together and see each other’s point of view in a year or so.
Healthy emotional flow is the result of resolving your past hurts and traumas. You achieve health by giving up control. Instead, accept and be your real self. Your real self has plenty of vital, colorful energy flow. More than enough, to jump up and down, with joy.

Your emotional health,
your emotional wellness and
your relationships…..
These are the top topics you picked.
Thanks to all of you who took the time
to take the topic poll. Those of you
who show up in life are the ones who
will succeed at work or play.
Remember what Sandra Yancey says,
Showing up is the only way to get
what you want!
Listen to Sandra’s interview on
Live at the Edge anytime you feel
like being inspired to make more money,
network effectively and give back.
Let me define the top two topics.
Emotional health is the rock bottom
essential amount of emotional safety
and physical comfort you need in daily life
in order to be secure, stable and relaxed.
Emotional Wellness goes a notch beyond
healthy into having more vibrant moments,
peak experiences and peak performances.
I would never just settle for Emotional Health.
I want to glow, radiate and shine with color.
Give me the extra energy flow and peaks.
A fact: There are very few people who are
emotionally safe to be with… there are very
few people you can share your
feelings and emotions with…..without being
judged, humiliated, make fun of or criticized.
Tis true.
For a solution to this problem, this current reality
on planet earth What do you do?
I have repeatedly taught you, do not look outside
for any answer.
Instead. Look inside.
Inside is where you can create
emotional safety if you want
to be emotional healthy.
The necessary ingredient is self acceptance.
Simple, pure and powerful.
When you learn to accept your own feelings,
your own emotions and your real response to
each event or situation in your life……you begin
to provide the necessary emotional safety you
need to become secure, stable and relaxed.
For hands on guidance in finding and hugging
your emotional self read and listen to
“Opening the Heart.”
Put rock solid comfort and knowledge in
your ears and heart as needed.
Showing up for yourself is more important
than showing up anywhere else.
Those of you in USA enjoy your holiday,
the rest of the world, share with me
your important holidays.

1. Is Your Soul in Charge?
=========================================
Seriously, do you listen to or follow or even notice your soul as you go though your day? The first time I tried to access my soul, I was over whelmed with its beauty and power. Took me years to get close to its magic and accept its powers. Honestly, I still do not accept its powers.
The first time someone mentioned to me that my soul picked my parents. I was a bit skeptical. “Really?’ I thought.
Naturally, I tried this foreign idea on to see if it fit. I love anything foreign. To this day I do not know if my soul did or did not pick my parents. But I do know for sure, when I see the world though this point of view, I feel powerful.
Real power as with real energy is all I care about. When I take credit for my trip on this planet, as if my soul did pick my parents, I am in charge. I love to be in charge. I want my soul to be in charge. I do not want any outside authorities in charge of me or my life. Not my parents and not a guru and not a government.
For more ideas about your karma and soul, parents and emotional healing, listen to Djuna Wojton, author of Karmic Healing and I talk about these issues at “Live at the Edge,” internet radio at its best. http://www.moosemeals.com/edge.htm
Djuna interviewed me back in the 1980’s in Philadelphia, on her radio show at WXPN at the University of Pennsylvania. I was exploring new, holistic psychology ways to heal myself and others. She was one of the few people interested in what I was up to……Philadelphia was a cold and closed community back then.
==============================
Controlled by Guilt?
=============================
I was interviewed this week by Sandra Yancey, founder and CEO of ewomennetwork on her NBC radio show. Sandra also has an interview in the archives of the “Live at the Edge,” library. She is the one who reminded us to Show Up! …..Showing up is 80% of your success right there. Read that post if you have not.
Guilt was the major emotional health block we ended up talking about. Guilt stops us from being alive. Guilt kills us dead.
You cannot be happy, strong or healthy if guilt is stuck all over you. Read an article on living a guilt free life in the free holistic psychology library at Dr. Jeanette’s Holistic Psychology Web Site.
An exercise in Guilt:
Notice how many times you say “I should” or “I should not.” Each time you catch yourself saying these words, notice how you feel. Do you feel anything? Guilt is not a real feeling so you experience guilt because you have judged yourself or someone else has judged you.
I suggest you notice your Judgment of yourself and stop it. Click on that link for a fun, revealing view of Judgment. Those evil eyes judge you every time.
Have fun growing and becoming more of who you really are. If you need help finding your emotional wellness inside your own heart, listen to or read, “Opening the Heart” as soon as you can. Life is too short to keep wasting yours.

Review Last Year - Show Up This Year.
December 28, 2006 by Doris Jeanette.
The Vibrant Moment–Review Last Year- Show Up This Year
Greeting Vibrant Moment Seekers,
If your physical body and emotional body do not reflect back to you–a Big Difference from the body and emotions you had last year, this means you are not growing toward your soul’s desires.
Each year is a step forward toward your purpose in life.
Self improvement is not permanent until your physical body reflects the changes. You may think you have changed, but if you cannot see a difference in the mirror, the energy is not there. You must see your energy field radiate out more love and light when you look in the mirror.
Others can see you, feel you and sense you. So take a loving look at yourself.
I do not want you to waste your precious life another moment in mundaneness and ordinary consciousness. You have innate talents, skills and abilities which need to be used for the highest good. If you are not using them, they are being wasted.
Emotional health is not achieved until your body relaxes to allow more vibrant energy to flow though your flesh. We are incarnate after all! This means in- the- flesh. The way to get more juicy energy flowing though your body is to let go of old, thought patterns, false beliefs, projections and conditioned responses. Then you have more peak experiences and vibrant moments au natural.
Your body reveals the truth about your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Your body does not have the ability to lie. Read Dr. John Diamond’s book, “The Body Doesn’t Lie” for more information.
So take stock of your body and emotions. Admit the truth of what you see in the mirror. Review this last year with love and laughter and kindness toward the self.
Do not judge what you see. Or you get stuck in judgment and this takes you no-where! Or even worse, your judgment might take you into depression and anxiety. So beware, review this last year, without judgment.
To learn exactly how to sneak pass your self judgment and cuddle up with self acceptance study, read, listen to “Opening the Heart- Your Emotional Guide to Self Esteem.” 3 self help audio tapes, CDs or ebook. Get emotional guidance, holistic psychology information, and as a bonus, the sounds in my voice touch your soul, heart and nervous system directly— forever changing your body and emotions.
Click here to hear an audio clip of these self help tapes.
Click here to order before your
new year desires get lost.

This is what you feel like doing when you are full of joy. I really do carry my stuff on top of my head…….an old womanly trick.
Hear Sandra Yancy, CEO of ewomennetwork and I shooting the breeze about what it takes to be successful with your business on “Live at the Edge” internet radio show. For starters, you got to “Show Up.” This applies to all self help success. You have to show up and take action. Otherwise, you are powerless. You cannot succeed at work or play.
Post your comments about Sandra’s show or any other interesting radio interviews, such as Peter Shepherd’s Mind Development on Live at the Edge Blog. Speak your mind, heart and soul. Ask for what you want and you get it.
So by all means amp up your life with some serious self improvement so you can Show Up This Year.
Here are some specific suggestions:
1-Take action on the things you read in The Vibrant Moment newsletter. Don’t just read about something, do something. Order something, buy something, take action. Get education in the areas you need to know more about for success.
2-Follow the free advice and suggestions posted on my free radio show even if you are not single, “Tips for Singles,’ on ‘Live at the Edge.’ If you use any of these tips you get on the self help success track. Then…..next year at this time you are sure to notice a Huge Difference between your body and feelings from last year. Even those of us in a relationship need to stay centered in our power to stay on our own spiritual path.
3-Show Up for yourself, Be there for yourself. Stop avoiding and Show up. This is huge, try it and see what happens. Just show up.
4- Let something touch your heart and soul. A person, a moment, a color, a feeling, a sound- consider allowing my voice to touch your heart.
5-Use your Mind to set in motion this year’s intentions. Imagine them, see them and then put some energy behind them.
6- Sign up for your free holistic psychology, mind body spirit newsletter:
Get two free gifts, “How Colors Affect Emotions” and “Emotional Intelligence Test and Emotional Intelligence Definition”
Next year can be the year when you turn the corner.
Become the person you know you are inside. Become your authentic, real, spiritual self in the real body.
Aloha,
Sounds like I am ready for some warmer weather and blue water.

My, My Maine continued….
November 30, 2006 by Doris Jeanette.
Get up to date free holistic psychology, mind body tips weekly, “The Vibrant Moment”
Leaving the coast was hard. I love the sea so much I never want to leave, but we said goodbye to peak red trees and the known beauty of Maine.
If you never let go of what you already have, you cannot get anything better, so off we went to a new part of Maine. Hoping for the best……..
We found the Lakes Region and checked into our charming new home, Wings Hill Inn just in time for tea and cookies. My, my, the cookies were tasty. Buttery and melted in your mouth. I stashed two in my room for later.
I am always in search of sunsets. Can’t get enough of them and the timing is frequently off. We had a few minutes of anxiety about getting our car parked somewhere, just like in the city. Naturally, I wanted to see the sun set over the mountains and the water. The viewing had to be just perfect you know.
Later we learned, all we had to do was walk from our Inn to the shores of the lake. This is the reason you want to hang out at a place long enough to get to know how to take care of your needs.
Sunsets are one of my huge needs. I slowly watched the sky turn into raging colors……..
![]()
This sunset alone, was worth leaving the coast for, the sunset was prettier than any I have ever seen on my many trips to the Maine coast. One of the innkeepers, Chris said, “Gorgeous sunsets are consistent, night after night.” A place you can count on getting your sunset needs met is a rare place indeed. Keep that in mind.
Who would expect to find elegant dinning in the rural regions of Maine? Wow, were we pleased to get good coffee and eggs benedict, my favorite, with extra hollandaise. Reading the press on the walls, we discovered, we had landed in the middle of two chefs, married to each other, both graduates of the American Culinary Institute. Besides the A+ food, there were nice little extra touches, like our names on the menu welcoming us and saying goodbye to those who were leaving. Felt good.
After a friendly chat and recommendations from Tracy, the other innkeeper, we headed out for a day in nature. We took a vista lovers hike, looking down on the many lakes in the area. The trees were past peak, but still mighty good looking. This hike was for Jenna who loves the views on the hills.
Next we walked in a clean, pure forest, miles and miles of pristine nature. This hike was for me. I need to be in the middle of the forest, surrounded by her energy. These pristine trees felt so good to walk in, around and among. The smells in the forest brought me deep pleasure and reassurance.
My goal was to take nature’s energy back home with me to the city, so I soaked reality up and stored her power inside for later.
We even had time for a short kayak trip on a pond before getting cleaned up for our 5 course dinner. How perfect is that? A day in nature, wild and free; and then a gourmet dinner right at our own home. Didn’t even have to drive anywhere to get there in the dark. We had a bottle of Pinot Noir in the trunk of our rental car, which was perfect for whatever we choose to eat.
I have to tell you the truth. The meal we had at Wings Hill Inn, ranks close to the top of my list. The only other meal that tops it, is the one I had in Fountaine Bleu at the Black Eagle restaurant in France back in 1995. Admittedly I have not eaten at every great restaurant in Philadelphia or the world, but Wings Hill Inn is at the top of my list in America. The food is worth going to the country for. I had two, new peak experiences, one with Tracey’s French Toast and the other with Chris’ delicate, creamy celery soup.
Heaven. Fresh, clean nature and excellent gourmet food, a combination which is hard to find and even harder to beat.
Here I am saying goodbye to a 175 year old tree that lives in the Inn’s yard. ![]()
