===============================

Having spent the last 36 years researching and developing a new psychological approach, I am always on the lookout for faster, easier ways to help people.  Since my model is a transformational model and not a medical model the work I do is fun, exciting and dramatic.  If you don’t know the difference between the New and Old Psychology, visit:  http://www.drjeanette.com/newpsychology.html

To keep up with the latest research, I attend many workshops and study with other innovative people.  Active professional development keeps me expanding and simplifying the essential ingredients which are necessary for permanent transformation.

So, what does it take for you to have a breakthrough that occurs immediately and can be used to improve the quality of your life?

One thing I know for sure is that you can transform your stuck energy into flowing energy immediately if you are open to change and willing to let go. This allows new information, new behaviors and new ways of seeing the world to occur.  So you definitely need to be open to change and willing to let go.

If my client is open and willing to let go, he often experiences sudden and permanent change in the first session with me.  This transformational shift can occur on the phone just as easily as it does in person.  The best way to put into words what happens is that I help my client increase his awareness of his physical body and his emotional feelings.

When he becomes aware of his physical and emotional feelings, instead of his thoughts, he has a new in the body experience of reality.  This in the body experience immediately allows new facts to pour into his conscious mind and he spontaneously exhibits new behaviors.  As a result, he ends the session with new ways of seeing the world which give him the power to move forward.

You too can have a breakthrough.  All you need to do is add more awareness to your database.  For the most powerful experience, become aware of your physical feelings and your emotional feelings.  These two realities will give you an in the body experience that you cannot forget or deny.

Use products, courses, workshops, mentors and coaching to help you become more aware.

====================================================

LOOKING FOR AWARENESS?  I created Nature Workshops to give you this powerful in the body experience of reality so that you can have a breakthrough. Come to the Forest and let me help you transform your stuck energy into flowing energy in the moment under the trees. Saturday, Oct 20, 2012. All day, limited to 12 people, $200.00.

Highly Sensitive Person? Being a Highly Sensitive Person Has Many Advantages

nude.jpg

The Vibrant Moment – Holistic Health Tip: Sense more data.
From the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Doris Jeanette, Holistic Psychology Mentor, Coach
Visit: http://www.drjeanette.com

===============================

Psychological research has found that 20% of the population is considered to be highly sensitive to subtle data. Since so many of us are highly sensitive, this trait is normal and a healthy sign that becoming more sensitive is a positive movement occurring in human evolution. Especially since another 30% can be considered to be sensitive.

Even if you do not consider yourself to be a sensitive or highly sensitive person you may be living with someone who is a HSP. Your lover, partner, child or parent may be a highly sensitive person.

Being a highly sensitive person gives you many advantages over other people.  I know many of you will scream at me, “No, being so sensitive is horrible and terrible. I hate it!”

Unfortunately, the reason you do not think being sensitive has advantages is because you have been told you were “too sensitive” so often.  As a result of experiencing this constant judgment from insensitive people, you probably feel bad about being so sensitive. Therefore you have not developed your basic nature so that you can use your highly sensitive nature to your advantage.

There are three major advantages to being a highly sensitive person.

You have a:
1.  Greater chance of survival because you notice and avoid toxins
2.  Keener empathic instrument for sensing data and knowing
3.  More loving nature for better relationships

Of course, there are also problems that come with being a highly sensitive person.   Because others have not validated your subtle perceptions you are more likely to suffer from certain psychological, mental health and emotional health problems.

You are more prone to experience:
1.  Anxiety
2.  Confusion and self-doubt
3.  Emotional insecurity

Therefore, if you want to develop and use your highly sensitive nature to your advantage, you need to overcome these psychological problems.  You can learn to trust your own perceptions when others do not perceive what you do. You can reduce your anxiety and improve your self-esteem so you are not overwhelmed and confused by the data you are perceiving.

Just imagine how powerful and successful you will be when you engage in quality personal growth. Your highly sensitive nature will perceive reality more accurately than others.  As a result, you be more intuitive, skillful at body language, energy awareness, body awareness and emotional awareness.

The bottom line is the more you use your highly sensitive nature, the more successful you will be at whatever you do.  Sensing the data around you gives you a definite advantage at work and home.  There is no reason for you not to use your highly sensitive self to shine and glow.

The Crying Games Bring Hope: Strongest Olympians are Emotionally Healthy

park2.jpg

The Vibrant Moment – Holistic Health Tip: Cry.
From the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Doris Jeanette, Holistic Psychology Mentor, Coach
Visit: http://www.drjeanette.com
===============================

The Wall Street Journal wrote a piece called, “Who Cries the Most at the Olympics?” In this article the WSJ made fun of the Olympians who lost their cool and turned into a “blubbering mess of mucus and tears.”

Their informal study examined the videos of the gold winners. It is disturbing as an holistic psychologist to read such a harsh judgmental piece published in the American media against the strongest and best Olympians.  Especially since the USA is in the midst of violent shootings in several states.

Just imagine that you had spent all of your time, energy and effort for many years becoming the best you could become in any area of your noteworthy life.  And then imagine how you would feel if the whole world acknowledged you as the best in the world among all nations.

You were awarded the gold medal because you were the one who showed up at that moment in time, in front of millions of people, and delivered your peak performance.  Imagine what this grand accomplishment would feel like in your heart and body.

Then allow yourself to know what it would feel like to stand on the top of the podium as your country’s anthem plays for you and you alone.  The whole world is celebrating you and your peak performance.  All of your life’s work has paid off.

When this happens to you, you would spontaneous cry, smile, laugh and beam if you were emotionally healthy.  You would feel and express joy.  If you were not emotionally healthy you would hold back your emotions and try not to feel anything during this peak experience in your life.  Perhaps you would sing, as many do, to cover up your emotions.

It is noteworthy that the WSJ’s research found that “China cries the least, with only 7% of its athletes succumbing to tears. More than 17% of American winners cried, while a whopping 37.5% of athletes from host country Great Britain cried.”  China sang the most.

Ah, it is not fair to proclaim the British the most emotionally healthy of the bunch.  After all, it was in their country that the Olympics occurred so it meant more to them.  Winning in your homeland is more emotional because it means more to you to win there.  You get an extra voltage of energy.

Therefore, if you want more vibrant moments, allow your life to have meaning.  Care about what you are doing and cry often. The more the better.  Then your life will be full of meaning, purpose, tears and joy.

Personal Growth and Professional Develpment: Use Olympics to Find Your Greatness

indianchild.jpg

The Vibrant Moment – Holistic Health Tip: Find your greatness.
From the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Doris Jeanette, Holistic Psychology Mentor, Coach
Visit: http://www.drjeanette.com

===============================

How great are you?

I love the ancient practice from Greece where the whole world stops its fighting to compete with each other in physical skills.  This year, many countries sent their greatest athletes to London to compete with all the other world cultures. The Olympics are indeed a noble tradition.

Out of all the species on planet Earth, humans have the widest range of possibilities.  We can be the lowest of the low as in the man who shot 7 people in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this week. And we can be the highest of the high as in Michael Phelps who turned his high energy into the most celebrated athlete of all time this week.

You are great. Use the Olympics to inspire you to find your greatness. Use these young men and women to get you up and moving.

You have to take action, learn new skills and develop your ability if you want to be great. You also have to practice what you learn in your daily life. This means you spend your time in valuable, effective personal growth activities.

As an adult, there is no one who can stop you from being great except yourself.  You get to choose your course of action.  You can be the lowest of the low or you can be the highest of the high.

I am blessed to have spent my life as a holistic psychologist helping people find their greatness.  You will be blessed if you look into your heart and body for your greatness.  Look into your feelings and emotions for your essence.

You will find your greatness as a bright light, a bubbling stream, a lovely sound, a young child inside of you.  Look until you find your essence and then set your precious energy free.  It is up to you to nourish your greatness and practice being great.

===============================

Last week we talked about how to use the James Holmes tragedy in Aurora, CO, to improve your mental health by cleaning up some of the yucky stuff in your unconscious.  If you haven’t read it, here it is: Improve Your Mental Health.

Thank you for all the positive comments I received.  The personal power you will receive when you clean up your mental health mess seemed to hit a strong, positive note with many of The Vibrant Moment readers.

So often we try to separate ourselves from those who act out and hurt others without owning the fact that we are also disconnected from our hearts much more than we realize.  After all, most people do not have an open heart most of the time.  This is the reason we are destroying our planet, wars still occur and emotional violence is almost the norm.

Whenever you disconnect from your heart, you hurt yourself and others in little and giant ways.   As a renegade, holistic psychologist with 35 years of clinical experience teaching people how to open their hearts, I understand your major concerns.

The number one reason people have given me over the years for the reason they do not want to open their heart is that they are afraid they will get hurt.

Does being vulnerable feel scary to you?
Are you sure someone will take advantage of you?
Are you certain others will make fun of you?

I have to tell you the truth.  You will get hurt when you open your heart.
There is no way to avoid getting hurt occasionally because there are so many insensitive people in the world.  Therefore, defensive, controlling and closed hearted people will definitely hurt your feelings, body and soul from time to time.

However, you also need to consider the fact that you are constantly getting hurt when your heart is closed and hard.  When your heart is closed, you feel misunderstood, mistreated, lonely, abused and criticized.

With a closed heart you cannot:
1.  Receive real love from others
2.  Give real love to others
3.  Feel love for yourself
4.  Be emotionally healthy
5.  Be mentally healthy
6.  Be physically healthy

So what are you going to do?

You can keep your heart closed and continue to hurt yourself and others.  This makes you one of the insensitive people in the world.

Or you can open your heart and become strong enough to deal with the occasional emotional pain you will naturally have in life. This will make you one of the sensitive ones.

With a closed heart, you cannot exchange energy with others. This means your human needs will never be met.  With an open heart, you will exchange lots of loving energy with others and you will be able to meet your needs. As a result of meeting your needs, you will be vibrant, strong and happy.

Don’t let your fear of being hurt keep your heart closed. Your strength is in your vulnerability.

===============================

In Aurora, CO, a fantasy movie gathering turned into a real-life nightmare when a mentally disturbed man named James Holmes began to shoot at people he did not know or care about.

I do not know enough about James Holmes and his mental health to make bold statements, however I do know that a person has to be in an unconscious state in order to kill another person.

Your heart has to be disengaged in order to harm someone or something. You have to not care for the period of time that you are scolding your child, hitting your partner or torturing a person. When you don’t care, you are unaware of your emotional feelings.

Many people have frequent periods of time during a typical day when they are unaware of their body, heart and feelings.  While most of us do not kill someone else or ourselves when we are unconscious, we can deliver a generous amount of emotional damage to ourselves and others.

How often do you scold yourself or someone else during the day? How often do you call yourself stupid, weird, selfish or narcissistic? Consider how many times you say negative things to yourself when you are not aware of it because you are not paying attention to your thoughts.

When a father lashes out in verbal abuse criticizing his child, he is reacting instead of feeling.  He is defensive and unconscious, instead of open and aware. He does not feel his body or heart.
He simply does not care enough about his son to protect him. He cares more about the fact that his son clogged up the garbage drain than he cares about his son’s feelings.

When a son grows up to be a James Holmes, it forces us to pay attention to what we need to be doing to improve our own mental health.  If you are experiencing a heightened sense of negative thoughts, having trouble sleeping and feeling out of balance, begin to clear away the destructive mess in your unconscious.

It is much easier to prevent mental health problems than it is to deal with acting out behavior, psychoses, suicides and mass murder.

Relationship Healing: Equal Relationships Create Healthy Energy Flow Called Intimacy

indianlady.jpg

The Vibrant Moment – Holistic Mental Health Tip: Equal = flow.
From the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Doris Jeanette, Holistic Psychology Mentor, Coach
Visit: http://www.drjeanette.com
Live at the Edge: http://www.ladybuglive.com

===============================

If you didn’t take the relationship test last week, “How Equal Do I Feel,”  you might enjoy taking it now.

If you did take the relationship test and you have questions, send them my way.  A few people mentioned they were unable to tell if they felt equal, inferior or superior because they had strong feelings of empathy and gratitude toward the person, group or object.

I will explain what feelings of empathy mean so you can more fully understand what you experienced when you took the test.  The goal of the “How Equal Do I Feel” exercise was to help you become more aware of how you feel toward the different realities that exist in your world.

For you to achieve more vibrant moments, you need to become more conscious of how you are relating to your world.  How you relate to your world is extremely important to your success in intimate relationships as well as in business, finance and spiritual transformation.

When you do not feel equal to a person, a group or an object, you get one set of results. When you do feel equal you get another set of results.

When you feel inferior or superior to another person, there is no connection.  You miss the other person.  This means there is no intimacy.  Thus there cannot be any energy exchanged between you. The results are zero energy.

This simple physical fact explains the results you get in life.  When you do not connect with your world, you do not experience the benefits that are available to you, all around you, every minute of every day. Instead, you experience a lack, a void, a disconnection, nothingness.  So your life is ordinary and mundane, if not worse.

Therefore, the best relationship advice I could give you is to learn how to feel equal to others.  When you feel equal, you relate equal.  Then you will get dramatically different results.  You will connect with others.

When you connect, there is a strong energy exchange between you and your world. This energy connection is what makes you stronger, more resilient and successful in intimate relationships as well as in business, finance and spiritual transformation.

This means that when you feel empathy with a person, groups or object you are definitely feeling equal, not inferior or superior.  Instead of zero energy, you are connecting energetically with the other person, group or object.  This means you have plenty of exciting energy which will give you many vibrant moments of being alive.

This energy connection is called intimacy.  When you are intimate with someone, you have strong emotional feelings such as love, gratitude, desire and reverence.  These are just a few of the many benefits you receive when you relate equally to your world.

Let me know your thoughts, feelings and comments. Post them below.

Relate equal to create energy flow.

Relationship Advice: Feel Equal, Relate Equally to All, Be Assertive

unclesam.jpg

The Vibrant Moment – Holistic Health Tip: Feel equal.
From the Center for New Psychology
Publisher: Doris Jeanette, Holistic Psychology Mentor, Coach
Visit: http://www.drjeanette.com
Live at the Edge: http://www.ladybuglive.com
===============================

How many people do you feel equal to?

Be honest with yourself. Do you really in your heart feel equal to most people?  Probably not.  Most people feel superior or inferior to others. Very few feel equal.

You have to feel equal before you can relate equally.  Your inability to relate equally to others could be the source of many of your relationship problems.

The New Psychology is based on equal relationships. This is one of the major ways the new, holistic psychology is different from the old, traditional psychotherapy.

In a traditional psychological relationship, the therapist is the authority. The therapist supposedly knows what is best for you, the client. The therapist leads the way. The therapist knows the answers. They feel superior to you. As a result, they relate unequally to you.

It is even believed by traditional therapists that they must keep a safe emotional distance from their client.  Could this be a way for a therapist to stay in control? Yes, it could. Could this superior position be a great place to hide for a therapist who is uncomfortable being intimate? Yes, it could.

The holistic psychologist who practices the New Psychology relates equally to clients. She knows that she is modeling appropriate, healthy relationship skills to her client at all times.  She knows that how she relates to her client is how the client is learning to relate to others.

This means the new, holistic psychologist is comfortable not being in control. She is comfortable being emotionally intimate.

Get to know yourself and how you feel toward others. Write these words down on a piece of paper.

1. My partner
2. My boss
3. My employee
4. A woman dressed in a fur coat
5. A man living on the street
6.  A university professor
7.  A disabled person
8.  A janitor
9.  A farmer
10.  Plants
11. Animals
12. Trees
13. God
14. Books
15. A rock

Feel each one and honestly note how you feel toward them. Put equal, inferior or superior beside each numbered category.  Take a good, long look at how you relate to your world.

If you want to be more powerful and successful, create equal relations with all.  Relating equally allows a healthy flow of energy to move back and forth between you. This healthy flow of energy is called intimacy.

In the Philadelphia area this week we had two major sex abuse trials come to an end.  The priests in Philadelphia have been found guilty of sexually abusing our children for decades. This occurred and continues to occur with full permission from the Catholic bishops and Catholic cardinals.

Assistant Coach Jerry Sandusky was found guilty of sexually abusing the children in his own charity both at his home and on the campus at Penn State for decades. He also had permission to continue his behavior after it was brought before law enforcement officers and university officials years earlier.

All of these precious children are now adults. They were betrayed by their religion, school authorities, parents and conditioning.

The men who have been found guilty are only a tip of the iceberg.  Do not be surprised if you know someone who has sexually abused a child or is currently sexually abusing a child.

What can we do to stop sexual abuse?

After 35 years of successfully helping men and women who have been sexually abused reclaim their self-confidence, self-respect and sexuality, I have some answers.

Let’s look at how we are conditioned.

Did your parents:
1.  Give you the right to speak truthfully to them about sex?
2.  Encourage you to be honest about adults you did not like?
2.  Teach you to be polite and kind to everyone?
3.  Scare you into being submissive with adults?
4.  Tell you to obey priests and authorities?
5.  Teach you to follow orders?

Conditioning plays a huge role in sex abuse, not only for the victim, but also for the abuser and those that allow the abuse to continue.  None of the people involved in sex abuse are assertive.  They are scared and passive.

It may come as a surprise to you that the abuser is scared and passive.  Sex abusers are unable to have equal adult relationships.  That is the reason they prey on vulnerable children.

The bottom-line is that if your parents did not model assertive behavior for you, then you did not learn to be assertive.  You will respond as you were conditioned to respond.

What behavior do you model for your nephews, nieces and the children of the world? To stop sexual abuse, children need to see adults being assertive in real life events.

You could learn to be assertive no matter what you were conditioned to be.  As an adult, you can take courses and classes in assertive behavior. You do not have to be stuck with ineffective ways of being in the world.

Then you would model assertive behavior for all the children in your world.  One of them just might bump into a coach or priest who starts to abuse them.  They would have a positive, assertive image in their mind of how to get help and stop adults from hurting them.

Grandmother’s Bullies Bullied at Home?

If you have not read about the verbal abuse a group of young children dumped on the 68-year-old grandmother on the school bus read about it at CNN with Anderson Cooper.

Bullying is learned behavior.  The 68-year-old grandmother who was bullied by insensitive children on the school bus where probably bullied at home.

The answer to overcoming bullying in our society is to teach our children how to respect, love and care about themselves so that they will respect, love and care about others. Then they will be assertive, not bullies.

Grandmothers, children and parents do not know how to be assertive and take care of themselves. They are passive or aggressive.  Bullying is a form of aggression, coming from a place of feeling powerless.

Assertiveness, on the other hand, comes from feeling powerful.  Assertive behavior is a spontaneous expression that is strong, brave, and courageous, and it comes from someone who feels self-respect.

The act of posting the video on youtube was an assertive act. The responses of compassion toward the Grandmother are acts of assertiveness.
