The first professional development workshop I attended to learn how to sense human energy was in New Jersey, USA in 1980.  The teacher began by teaching us how to sense and feel the energy in our hands.  I could feel a few tingles between my hands so this was fun and exciting. I was having a good time opening up to new possibilities.

Next, she had us pair up with a partner.  We were to put our hands close together and see if we could sense the energy between our hands and the other person’s hands.

The moment I felt strong energy flowing between my hands and the other woman’s hands my body automatically backed away from her.  I quickly pulled my hands away from her hands and stepped outside of the energetic connection with her.

The reason my body responded this way was because I was scared.  I was surprised that I felt such a strong force and when I felt this amazing energy between me and another person, I experienced fear.

Since this first professional development workshop, I have studied with many master energy teachers developing and improving my ability to feel and read energy. My fear of feeling human energy has transformed into a desire to feel more and more.

Now, in 2012, it is difficult for me to remember that most people do not feel and sense the energy that is inside of them and around them everyday, all day long, automatically and naturally.

The benefits of sensing human energy are so numerous that I will just mention the number one benefit I have received over the years.  Self-esteem.  Being able to sense energy has dramatically improved my self-esteem in my personal life as well as my professional life.

When you can sense, feel and read energy, it increases your self-confidence.  You have more self-confidence in what you are doing, how you are relating and who you are.  You know what is really going on with you and with others.

For example, you can tell when you are defensive and when others are defensive.  A partner or client can attack you, accuse you and say you are being defensive.  Is this true or not?

Once you can feel and read body energy, the difference between defensive energy and non-defensive energy is easy to recognize.  All you have to do is check in with your body energy and see if you are being defensive or not.  If you are being defensive, then you can relax, let go and give up your defensiveness.

If you are not being defensive, you can smile an inner smile and know that you are not the problem.   The other person is sending you his or her defensive energy and you can stay grounded and feel emotionally secure within yourself.  Your self-esteem is solid, you do not have to react or defend yourself.

To have enough self-esteem to allow another person to be defensive without reacting or interfering with their denial is a wonderful personal growth achievement.  You can hold your ground and protect yourself until their defensive storm passes.

No matter how much personal growth you have achieved or how self-confident you feel, there will always be new challenges in front of you.

This week I have three major decisions to make and actions to take.

1.  Medicare has erroneously deactivated my professional account.  Even though it is their mistake, I suffer the consequences.  Weeks after being reassured they have corrected their mistake, I still have not received payments.

2.  I must decide which of three masons to use that will not make any serious permanent mistake on the front of my house. This must occur before the weather gets cold. Each one has a different solution to the problem. Which one is correct?

3.  My neighbor refuses to correct the damage in my backyard caused by their tree and tree roots. This means my assertive behaviors, assertive requests and assertive phone calls over the last three years have not worked. I have to be brave and up the ante.

I am sure you have similar problems and challenges you must deal with on an ongoing basis. It does not matter how assertive you are in one situation, reality continues to throw curved balls at you.

Long ago, I learned that it was not wise to face new challenges alone.  Not only did I suffer emotionally, I also made bad decisions and lost money in the long run.

When you feel alone and helpless, the world is not a wonderful, vibrant place.  When you fall into this mental state, you do not know what, when, where and how to move forward.

When you feel alone and helpless, do not stay stuck in this psychological state.  Instead, reach out to others and get the help you need to move forward.  Even if you have taken appropriate assertive action, you often need help to accomplish the task before you.

So, get the help you need. You may need a business mentor, an emotionally safe coach, a holistic psychologist, a real estate friend, a lawyer or an online or audio course to help you.   Receive the help and use it.

If you receive the helping energy from other sources, you will not feel alone and helpless anymore.  You will feel connected to others and have the practical help you need to move forward and face your new challenges.

Three weeks ago, I mentioned in The Vibrant Moment newsletter that if you arrived at my workshops open and willing to let go, there was a high probability that you would have a major permanent breakthrough.  Not just a workshop high but a permanent change in your body that you could walk home with and put into action in your daily life.

This also applies to other situations in your life.  If you are open and willing to let go you could experience a transformation.

So, what is it you are supposed to open and how can you open it?
How can you let go and what it is you are letting go of?

Open means that you are willing to entertain new possibilities. You will consider new ways of thinking and you will consider new ways of interpreting your experiences.  Open is the opposite of rigid and closed.

You have rigid thoughts which are false beliefs and you have rigid body parts that are tense, closed and hurting. When you are holding on to your rigid thoughts and holding your body tight, you are closed.

On the other hand, an open body and an open mind are soft and receptive. This means you allow new information to enter your mind and your body.  New information educates you and connects you to reality.

You have the power at any moment in time to choose to be open. This willingness to be open is usually enough to soften your rigid position. Once you are soft and open, you directly experience reality, which is full of new possibilities and new interpretations.

Reality is never rigid.  Reality changes and flows anew in each moment. This means reality is full of multitudes of new possibilities every minute. You can live in this exciting energy anytime you choose to be open.

When you are open you can see and experience these new possibilities. When you are closed, you cannot see any of the possibilities that exist all around you at any moment in time. They are there, but you cannot see them because you are holding on to your rigid beliefs and defining reality instead of experiencing it.

The letting go happens when you physically relax your body and consider the fact that you could be wrong about your rigid mental beliefs.  When you relax your body and keep it relaxed, there is a high probability that you have let go of your mental rigidities and judgmental thoughts permanently.

Without your rigid energy in the way, you are able to see, embrace and enjoy the exciting new possibilities sparkling all around you at any moment in time.  Now, how wonderful is that?

Live in the vibrant moments around you, it is a whole lot more fun.

Awareness is the first step in transformation. If you missed last week’s discussion on the importance of body awareness and emotional awareness for good holistic health, read now.

To allow and create a dramatic change in your life, you must be aware of “What is.” What is reality?  What is really going on with you in this moment in time?

“What is” is the first exercise I do at all my workshops.  I begin by increasing your awareness of what is happening in you, around you, between you and what exists outside of you.

The first scan we do is with your physical body. Scan your body now and see if you can increase your awareness of what your physical form is doing in space in this moment.  Start with your feet and work up to the top of your head.

Are your feet spread out wide with relaxed toes?  Feel them, then look and see them.  If you are not barefoot, take off your shoes and look to see what your toes are doing. Really look at your toes for a good long minute. You will get lots of vital information if you pay attention to your toes.  You will be amazed at the information you receive that is intuitive, subtle and correct.

Keep scanning your body. Is your brow wrinkled with thinking?  Are your shoulders relaxing into gravity?

You need to discover:
1.  Which side of your body is more open.
2.  Which muscles are tightening up to block out love energy.
3.  Which part of your body is the most receptive.
4.  The amount of blood flow you allow in your feet, legs and hands.
5.  The amount of anxiety in your nervous system.

New awareness will be yours simply by observing, looking, feeling, sensing and listening.  Once you discover that your toes are all scrummed up and held up in the air with tension, you need to take action to relax those toes and let them fall down into gravity.

See yourself taking effective personal growth actions that are based on your new body awareness.  Visualize yourself having a breakthrough that permanently improves your life. Feel the smile on your face affect your cells in a glorious way and make you feel good all over.
