Last night I had a lively conversation with a group of my
friends about body language. One of the men in the group
vehemently disagreed with me that one can read body
language and instantly know how good a lover a woman
is and how anxious a man is.

This conversation got me thinking about how most people
do not pay attention to body language.

Do you think about the fact that your body:

Does not lie because it cannot lie?
Is constantly communicating information to others?
Could be read by someone else at any moment in time?

I am not sure exactly what made my friend deny that
reading body language accurately was possible.

Perhaps he became uncomfortable when the thought
entered his conscious mind that someone else could be
reading his body language.  As a result of his
discomfort, he reacted.  His defensive reaction was to
deny that reading body language accurately was possible.

When you are confronted with new knowledge and
information do you get uncomfortable?  Do you get
defensive? Do you deny that it is possible?

My friend could have been interested in learning how to
read body language instead of denying that it is possible.

I will revisit this conversation with him over the course
of the summer and tell him about the time that I was on
television reading the body language of the politicians’
wives in the last election.  I will let him know that he
can learn to read body language himself if he wants to.

It takes information, observation, reliable feedback and
lots of practice to become a good body language reader.
I started in 1976.

Darwin hit the nail on the head with his astute observation
of what it takes to survive.  You have to adapt to change as
it occurs. This means you have to adapt to reality as real
events unfold in your life.

How adaptable are you to change?

If you do not change with the real world around you, you are
moving in the opposite direction of health and wellness.
You are moving towards…. kaput.

As publisher of this free holistic psychology newsletter, my
goal is to help you adapt to reality so that you can enjoy
life and flourish. To be adaptable you must do something new,
learn something new, be something new.

The movement toward kaput can be sudden or subtle.  This
harsh reality of survival applies to suicides like Mary
Kennedy’s tragic death this week where a mother of young
children hung herself.  This same harsh reality of survival
applies to what is going to happen to you during the course
of the coming year.

Suicide may not be in your conscious mind right now but
self rejecting thoughts could be lurking in your unconscious.
Self-rejecting thoughts keep you from being healthy, making
love and having fun.

For example, if you are fighting with your mate, getting a
divorce or breaking up with a partner, you could be holding
on to old ways of relating that you learned in your past.
This means you are reinforcing your ego-based rigidities
instead of learning something new so you can adapt to change.

Another example would be if your love life is suffering
because you move too fast and cannot sit down into the
moment with your partner.  This means you are running away
instead of learning new ways of relaxing into your body so
you can enjoy genuine sexual intimacy.

Over the course of the next year are you going to:
• Stay still and not move?
• Slowly move forward?
• Slowly move towards kaput?
• Hold on tight and become more rigid?
• Engage in real life transformation?

You can certainly learn how to change and rearrange as the
realities of your life unfold.  All you have to do is learn
new ways of relating, new ways of relaxing and new ways of
making love.

If you learn how to ride the currents of change, you will
not only survive, you will manifest health, wellness and
abundance.

Do you know what your purpose in life is?
Do you know what the purpose of traditional psychology is?

I know many of you are excited to find a holistic
psychologist who is offering an alternative to the old,
traditional psychology model.

In these exciting times when Obama is being proclaimed the
first gay president by Newsweek Magazine, as Bill Clinton
was proclaimed the first black president…the times they
are a-changing.

All across across the world, the old forms in governments,
religions and professions are being challenged because they
are no longer useful.  Traditional psychology, along with
traditional medicine, needs to undergo dramatic changes in
order to be of service to human beings.

If you take a long, honest look at the purpose of the old,
traditional psychology you can see the reason psychotherapy
is losing favor.  You can observe the reality that
traditional psychology, as it is practiced in mainstream
America, is no longer helping humanity evolve toward a
better future.

The purpose of traditional psychology is to adjust you so
that you fit into a certain culture, system or technique.
What US psychologists do to American children is a perfect
example.

American psychologists label sensitive, creative children
with a self-limiting mental health diagnosis which then
gives American physicians the right to medicate the
precious children with a dangerous drug.  The purpose is
to control the children’s behavior so that they fit into
what schools expect and parents want.

In sharp contrast, the purpose of the New Psychology is
to teach you to find, recognize and follow your real
self, so you can be true to yourself.

Wake up and pay attention.  You need to know your purpose
and find teachers, psychologists, coaches, mentors and
physicians that are in alignment with your purpose.

Does your purpose line up with the old, traditional
psychology?  Do you want to control yourself so that you
can fit into a crazy, unhealthy world that is
self-destructive and rapidly destroying Mother Earth?

Or is your purpose in line with the New Psychology?
Do you want to clean up your psychological mess so you
can relax, be assertive and become a proper guardian
for Mother Earth?

Know your purpose and act on it.

Do you know the health of your heart? If not, it is time for
a thorough heart exam.

Heartaches are real and physical. When you suffer from a
past emotional trauma, the hurt you feel is both physical
and emotional.  A broken heart is indeed broken, damaged
and wounded.

Has it been years since you got divorced? Or did you just
break up with your lover?  Or perhaps you are in the same
relationship and you feel numb, stuck and mundane. Or maybe
you have never been in a loving relationship.

In any case you need to take a heart examination and check
the health of your heart.   Let’s take a look into your
heart and see what is really there.  You can sense the
matter and energy in your heart by putting your
consciousness into your heart and taking a look.

So, put your awareness into your heart.  See if you can
look deep inside of your heart as a physical organ and as
an energy vortex.  How does your heart look, feel, taste,
sound, smell?

If you cannot see clearly deep inside, look around and
see if you can sense what is sitting on top of your heart.
See if you have heaviness, weight, resentment and sadness
barricading your heart.

Then examine the surface of your heart and sense the
physical matter in your chest.

How:
Tight are your muscles?
Sensitive is your chest area?
Open and strong is your chest area?
Closed and weak is your chest area?
Tender are your breasts?

Next, check to see if you can tell how much love energy
is pouring out of your heart.  Then notice how much love
energy is pouring into your heart.

Honestly, most people have closed hearts. Very few have
open hearts. So do not be surprised, upset or judgmental
if your heart is closed or rarely open.

Instead, begin to heal your heartache so that your heart
becomes physically stronger and emotionally healthier.
